Giving to charity is your way of doing the right thing.

Helping you save on taxes is ours.

With your recent purchase of Microsoft Money, we're pleased to provide you H&R Block's DeductionPro. DeductionPro's accurate fair-market values take the guesswork out of deductions, and our intuitive interface helps ensure you won't miss an important deduction that could save you money. Put an end to guesswork, and start getting more from your deductions. It's nice to know you're helping others, as well as yourself.

DeductionPro Features:
- Hundreds of Noncash Items
- Quick Tours Help You Make the Most of Your Deductions
- Easy Data Entry
- Comprehensive Donation Tracker
- Import Last Year's H&R Block DeductionPro Data
- Save More Using Accurate Fair-Market Values
- Seamless TaxCut Software Import

Please note: DeductionPro is not MAC compatible. You must be using a Windows-based operating system to install and use the software.
The link works even if you've not recently purchased Microsoft Money. The download is good for Tax Year 2005 *or* 2006 -- your choice.

When Block did this two years ago, it was later determined that the link should have only been enabled if you had a browser cookie that indicated that you had purchased MS Money. IIRC, they caught that mistake and republished the Deduction Pro page so you couldn't get the software without the cookie.

If they follow to form, then the link (above) should go bad sometime soon. I'd recommend downloading the s/w asap if you're interested in it. Otherwise, you can only get it if you buy it standalone ($19.95) or bundled with another product (MS Money or Tax Cut Premium.)

Of course, it's entirely possible that Block is giving the s/w away this year, just like they're giving out the Basic version of Tax Cut - as an enticement to buy their other products. Dunno.

I dumped Turbo Tax several years ago when Intuit decided to include malware with their product. They bundled Macrovision's C-Dilla software to prevent users from copying the CD (which is their right), but the malware added yet another running process to your machine, it monitored ALL of your CD writing even after Turbo Tax had been installed, and was extremely difficult to remove. Intuit did this without informing purchasers that C-Dilla would be installed on their system.

I switched to TaxCut that year and have never looked back.

Same here. Although it should be noted that it appears Intuit learned their lesson and no longer does so. Too little, too late for me, though.
