I don't think these are ever on sale. Your best bet is to try and buy it from a store with a rewards program or use a credit card that gives you points or cash back.

As stated, there aren't too many deals on these... a few stores in my area still had the original DS and those could be had for prices ranging from $79 to $99, but I'd think those are probably all gone now.

Use Google Checkout or a Coupon and buy it online.

Pick up the DS Lite, not the DS. Much smaller & lighter, screen has adjustable brightness, cover for the slot for the normal Gameboy games, longer stylus, etc etc.
And no, you're not going to get any great deals right now. The best you'll do is to get a free carrying case which is of dubious value.
If you really do want to go cheaper and don't mind if you give her the old DS, stop by a game store and check out the used DS's. Should be around $80 or $90.

I just started a thread with the same question, I'll post here instead.
in the same boat, looking for a good price. best i've seen is 20off using Google checkout on buy.com problem is you still have to pay shipping so it ends up being 116 -119

Both Sam's Club and Costco have packages, but I haven't paid attention to the prices lately, so not sure if they're good deals or not. We bought one last year at Sears when they were having a 10% off sale.

You can get 20% off at Toys R Us if you sign up for their credit card. I didn't scan all the fine print because I wasn't planning on doing it, but what I saw didn't exclude game systems.

Speaking of being out of stock, Best Buy online has been out of stock since right after Thanksgiving. And they say that the stores don't have stock either (in-store pickup not available).
This won't be sold out everywhere, but you're not going to find any killer sales. By the way, it looks like the black and pink ones are out of stock at Amazon but the white one is still instock... for now.

Wow. I got mine about a week ago at buy.com but they seem to be sold out there. My other alternative was overstock.com but they're also sold out.
