Hey X, why is it ok to discuss BF ads early (or so it seems) this year but not in years past? In the past was it just a case of BF deals being discussed weeks ahead of, rather than the week of BF?

My guess would be DVDTALK didn't receive any letters from lawyers this year like in years past because retailers realize it's better to let word of mouth get potential customers interested in BF earlier rather than later.

Also if I remember correctly, last years BF was reported to have not been as successful as retailers had wanted/anticipated it to be.

Just curious, thanks.

Well, it still happens. Best Buy had bfads.net pull their ad last week.

Some nice deals on HDTVs!

Do ANY places do online Thursday or Black Friday deals? Obviously supplies would be very limited, but I'd rather try my luck being a fast clicker than waiting in line at 4am (or earlier...I see BB is handing out tickets starting at 4am, opens at 5am).

Looks like Amazon will be selling 1,000 X-Box 360 Core units for $100 on Thursday. Not sure if this has been posted anywhere.....if so, oh well.

How do they generally work - simply X amount available beginning at Y time, first X amount to order get them?

Anybody have any links to any of these?

I would bet, honestly now, that some will camp overnight. Each store is expected to have 5-6 units. A safe bet would be 2-3 AM. Obviously this depends on your area. Check with your store to see how many units you'll have.

BB BF Deals Available Online?

I noticed on their BF ad it says that "Shop BB Online on Thanksgiving Day for Online Only Offer and More".

Does anyone know if BB will allow you to purchase BF deals that are listed as Fri-Sat deals, online? I'd rather not fight with the crowds who are going for the 7-hour items just to pick up a few things.

Even though I am not X, I used to read X-Men comics when I was a teenager.

Up until a few days ago, discussion of BF deals on DVDTalk was forbidden; for whatever reason our evil robotic overlords deem it safe to discuss them now. I think that the closer we get to Thanksgiving, the looser the rule gets. Seems that's how I remember it in years past.

And even though we aren't allowed to discuss such things on DVDTalk, this information has been available for weeks on the web and is easily revealed with a simple google search. Much like fire reveals the One Ring.
