Thanks...how thick is each edition of the hardcover books? My wife likes to read in bed, these just seem like it would be a bit awkward...like holding a dictionary (or maybe the pic seems off to me)

The books are about 1.5" thick and 12" long, so it might be a little ackward to read in bed.
Personally, if you aren't interested in collectibility or having the absolute complete set, I'd say the paperbacks would suit your wife's purpose well. I've got the complete set, but I also have most of the paperbacks - I got them at a garage sale for 50 cents each (and they were in NEAR MINT condition!). It could potentially be cheaper for you (eBay, garage sales, bargain bins) and she could read them anywhere, anytime.
