What's usually the best time stock up on clothes?

For places like Old Navy and Kohls, is the best deals black friday, around christmas, after christmas, etc? I have too many T-shirts and not enough long sleeves winter tops.
thanks

Apparently this past weekend was a great time to stock up on clothes. Izod, Van Heusen, Bass and Geoffrey Beene had their quarterly sale (30% off this time). This was on top of a 30% - 70% off everything in the respective stores. You could wait for the next one in January/February.

In France, there is like a time of the year when every single store or boutique has everything (or most things) on sale. I think it's around July-August or so.

Well, quite frankly Old Navy is cheap enough, I dont know why you would need to wait for some uber sale.

I have racked up at target when they clearance items for 75% off... 3 buck rock t-shirts, 5 buck dressy casual button up shirts, picked up a pair of hiking boots, a pair of nice sandals, and a pair of heavy duty steel toe boots for under 20 bucks total... they are always marking stuff down

If you have a Steve and Barry's University sportswear near you... GO... I have gotten 3 or 4 NICE wool winter jackets for 6 bucks apiece (their draw is they offer items for 9.99 or lower, but NOT higher... when I went they has EVERYTHING for 5.99)... picked up a really nice UVA jacket with incredible detailing for 5.99... khakis, polo shirts, jeans, novelty tshirts, etc, etc... all for dirt cheap...

Early fall for summer clothes, early spring for winter clothes. Both times stores are clearing out the respective seasons clothes to make room for the new.

Old Navy and the Gap usually have an area for clearance clothing all year round. At least in my area. Cheap.

Right after Christmas, in my experience.

I find that it is best to stock up on clothes when my current clothes start to wear out. YMMV.

Well, for winter/fall clothes, the best time is in Feb/Mar when they start bringing the spring stuff in. If you plan ahead and dont mind wearing 'last years' stuff, you can save 75% or more. Thats what I usually do. Wait untill Dillards has a 75% off sale plus a coupon and buy alot of stuff for the upcomming year.

If you have a Kohl's department store around you, go get one of their credit cards. Every month they will mail you a coupon for a discount of 10, 20 or 30%. When you get the 30%, go shopping. The beauty is that these discounts stack with their clearance items (so you can get 30% off something that is already marked at 70% off).

I usually do that 1-2 times a year. Last time I got several pair of "nice" jeans for around $7 each (among other items like a pair of New Balance sneakers for $12).
