ING Direct has a $50 signup bonus right now. Even though I'm sure they don't verify, it's for taxcut customers.

Goto this link, www.ingdirect.com/taxcut

On the first page, enter 58978755 in the retail box. that's the only time you have to enter the code.

This only works for new customers and not people who already have accounts set up (as far as I can tell.)

I mentioned this in the other thread, but is anyone familiar with Superior Savings? They currently offer a 4.50% Money Market account for accounts in excess of $25K.

Hm... as long as they are FDIC insured, I see nothing wrong with using them. It doesn't seem like it's a CD, so it should be liquid saving.

the offer expires at the end of october.
HSBC rate is now 4.00%. Not sure if there is a sign-up bonus for November, but this is a top-notch bank with great customer service.

I have been with ING for a few years now. The rate as of today is 3.5%. I have multi accounts for budgeting purposes. Their current promotion (referal) deposit $250 and get $25 (10%) instant return. There is no minimum opening deposit, just if you want the FREE $25 (the person that refers you gets $10). I dont remember how long you have to keep the inital deposit in there for. The also have no minimum CDs and Mutual Funds. Good Luck.

Thanks. So far it worked for me. I see the deposit in the new account.

FWIW, they will all keep bumping up as long as the Fed keeps raising interest rates. Emigrant just seems to move their rates up a little faster than the others.

Why is this? (Sorry, I'm a newbie to this actually having money in my savings account thing). But basically, we can expect to see our savings rate continue to rise for the next year or two? I'm guessing a 2 year CD through ING is probably a waste then, right?

Yes. Keep your money liquid now.

I think there are some 6 month CDs yielding returns > 4.50%.

Ah, thanks! I think I may take some of the extra money and startup an IRA before tax time.
