The 3900 and 4900 are some of the best DVD players ever made. I understand some things changed slightly with the advent of the x960 series (like this one) but I think it might just have been taking away the ability to make it region free.

You might want to tool through the HTF's "A/V Sources" forum to learn more about this player. The first hands-on review was...er, less than glowing.

I've got one of these and have been less than thrilled with it. When the player is working properly, it's great, but when it's not it's terrible.
Half of the buttons on the remote stopped working in less than two weeks. I get DTS dropouts I didn't get on my older player. Frequently, if you pause a DVD and then resume, the audio will be gone. Sometimes DVD-Audio discs will just stop playing 3/4 of the way through the album. I would assume that I have a faulty unit, but from reviews I've seen it sounds like most of these players have issues. Plus, people who've sent them in for repair have gotten completely different models in return, lacking the ability to play SACD or DVD-A.
My main requirements when I was buying the player were SACD and DVD-A compatability and price. When I replace this player I'll be looking at more expensive models.
