But the sugar isn't a bad thing. Especially post work out you need a lot of sugar and other low GI carbs to replenish your muscle glycogen to go along with the fast abosorbing whey protein.

Josh is correct, but there is a "convience" factor, along with, if you are working and don't have an easy way to package and take with you, this is the next best. Also, mixing it yourself, it's hard to get that amount of protein per serving and keeping the "pudding" texture.
For those that are "new" to the flavor, it is best if refrigerated first. Eating it warm does leave a little after-taste (as most protein bars do). But cold, it's quite good. I prefer the vanilla over the chocolate. Like any protein on the market, you'll either love it or hate it.
