I think this is what they are called but I play lots of basketball and was wondering what those skin tight shorts people wear under their shorts? does anyone know the best ones to get w/o spending an arm and a leg? i see under armour is popular, is this the best to get? Just using them for working out, running, playing basketball.

Target has them from Champion's C9 brand for $16.99, and yes, they are called compression shorts. If you can find a Men's Health magazine, the May issue has a $5 off $25 coupon good throug 5/25 at Target for any Champion/C9 purchase. You can probably just find the magazine in Target's magazine section.

I don't know if you can find them anymore,but my favorite was always the Bike ones,i ALWAYS used them on the court.Eastbay probably has plenty to choose from.

so are these designed then to replace underwear? also, i think people wear them because it 'wisks' away the sweat to keep you dry... i think.

I believe the compression reduces vibrations in the quads and hamstrings (and keeps them warmer), which helps avoid pulled muscles.

Compression shorts are hot. wear a jockstrap underneath

I believe the term you are looking for is "wick."

I use them for that and also to keep myself "situated".
