A friend of mine emailed me about this earlier. Apparently to sign up you have to have been referred and enter a referral code. I used my friend's code. It looks like you only get one 25 dollar credit when you sign up and the referrals don't get someone any extra commissions or anything - it's more like how gmail worked - like an invite I think.

If someone needs a referral to sign up, here's mine - http://www.greenzap.com/********* - if the mods determine this is a no-no or something, please delete it or alert me so I can delete it. All I know is that when I first tried to sign up, it wouldn't let me do it until I entered a "promotional code" which was the referral. If for some reason I get money for referrals from this, I'll donate it to dvdtalk or some charity.

Edit: My bad... I just read their FAQ to be sure and it turns out that referrals are credited - so I removed my referral code - sorry for posting it mods. Let me know if some system is arranged for members here or something...

I'm a little confused. FAQ on website says quote:
"Q: How much does it cost to open a GreenZap account?
A: Nothing. Zero. Zip. Everyone will be opening a GreenZap account because it's FREE. Once you open an account, you'll be rewarded with $25 just for signing up. Let the Zapping begin! "
This would make me think that no referal would be needed to get the $25 credit. Anybody tryed just signing up and did you get the $25 credit?

you wont know until their site goes live. i didnt have a promo code and just typed in "promo" in the box and it worked. supposedly you get an email each time someone you refer signs up so you can track referrals but cant access anything involving your account till the site goes live in "summer 2005".

It's not rocket science stuff that PayPal is doing ... I'm suprised nobody else has a viable solution to PayPal competition.

It seems one person "Chih Hsu" has like a billion referral codes registered already, since a LOT of variations are all his. I suspect this is probably one of the management's codes.

how do we know "promo" isn't a referral code. as you create your own on registration.

Maybe I'm just too skeptical but this just seems to ooze of scam.

Do some research on this one, fellas. My research clearly indicated a multi-level marketing / ponzi scam. Google "greenzap scam".
