portable DVD player?
Any good deals on portable DVD players? Or maybe the new slim ps2 would do the trick. This would be for a movie group that is being started. I plan to connect it to the big screen tv or projector. The smaller the better but I don't really want crap either.

what about one of those walmart special type $29 players that are smaller? smaller and much cheaper than a ps2. I have also seen portable dvd players without screens before. Only place Ive seen those lately is at truck stops.

hmmm I haven't seen any players like that. I'll have to go down to walmart and see what they got. I'm guessing these are CD player sized. I was thinking about getting one with a screen then having it do double duty as an extra player for the xbox for when I'm feeling lazy and want to stay in bad. But if they are that cheap I can do without the screen. I dropped the slim ps2 idea. I don't think it is small enough to lug around once a week.

The Cyberhome 300 is a decent player, has multiregion hack, and it sells for under $40. It is very small, works well. Doa search and you'll find lots of info on it.

I read about Cyberhome while doing my searches. The bad reviews on it and other cyberhome stuff are to high for me to touch. Here is an example.

my parents first dvd player was a cyberhome, and it wasnt that bad. almost anything under $100, no matter what is says the brand is, was most likely made in Chineese factory that produces generic dvd players and sells them to companies who slap their name on it.

I bought a cyberhome for $21 at best buy recently. Its junk, the picture quality compared to my two Sony and one JVC players is just horrible especially through the component outputs. The remote is pathetic. I have been using it as a CD/MP3 player which it works okay for. I would never equate Cyberhome with a solid name brand player.

I was going to buy the mintek but they did something in later firmware that will not let you use the region free hack.
I'm leaning toward this one Coby 3.5in
Almost useless to watch stuff I haven't seen since the screen is only 3.5 inches but the region free hack works on it, has no bad reviews, and is the smallest dvd player out.
I think the mintek was rated 2nd best to one that cost $500 but without a region free hack that cuts down our movies.

I found THIS SITE very useful when looking for a DVD player. It shows the tested capabilities of many players as well as info on region hacks etc.

That site I was checking to see if the ones I was looking at had region fee hacks. I didn't notice they also had ratings.
I think I might have found a nearby location to keep the dvd player so I might be out of portable market for now.
