I thought this would be a cool thread to remember your very own personal experience.
Shaun of the Dead…looks glorious. I never knew what I was truly missing.

That's a good question I can't remember the answer to. I'm going to guess an MCU film but it's just a guess.

The first 4K disc movie I broke in my OLED with was The Super Mario Bros. Movie. The vibrant colors looked great.

I think it may have been The Martian.

Deadpool, bought at Target about a year before I had a player, just had to have a disc. Still not totally in love with the format but buy any 2D movie on it when available, currently have 134 altogether (including the “corrected” discs for Frankenstein and Looking for Mr, Goodbar.) Disc that’s impressed me the most so far has been the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre, which I only had the old 4x3 letterboxed DVD before and this didn’t come with a standard Blu-Ray to compare. Glad I was able to get Rad on 4K but it didn’t really blow me away. Billy Lynn’s Halftime Walk is notable for being in high frame rate, but of course the format can’t do 3D. The 3D Blu-Ray is included with it but is only in 24fps; 3D can only be in 60fps at 720 resolution but I would’ve preferred that.

There are many 4ks that aren't impressive. A lot depends on authoring and source material. There's a semi-useful thread over at that other forum titled "What are your best looking UHD Blu-rays", title is self-explaining. I've gone Dolby Vision on my player and tv, so those discs with a DV layer is preferred and look nice. YMMV.

^ thanks Tom. I just don’t like that site for some reason, but we should have it here too. That other site is just a disaster, but I’ll check it out.

Color of Space I think and it wasn't even in Atmos or had DV. It was straight up 4K SDR.

I was buying UHD discs from day one for future proofing, but the first one I actually watched in 2160p/HDR was Sicario on 8/13/17.

We’re all these first time buys as well? What was your first bought 4K? No need for another thread. New discussion.

I don't know anyone with 4K so my first watch was first bought. Back when I lived in San Diego I only had one friend who had laserdisc.

I'm sure Halloween (Lionsgate) was my first 4K, but I didn't have a player yet. Django was likely the first because I was really curious to see how on "Old" movie looks in 4K. Needless to say, I was far more impressed by the blu-ray of Texas, Adios instead (It was included as a bonus disc)
