Walmart has also dropped the price on the regular 4K/blu-ray to $24.98 with in store pick up as an available option. My wife was placing a pick up order for some other stuff so I had her add it, so I guess I will have a copy later today.

I stopped at Walmart yesterday afternoon to grab the regular 4K, they had a handful of copies of the 4K and Blu, and right as I was grabbing one, another guy came up and got a 4K copy too. We chatted a bit and said he had really enjoyed this one. Glad to see more fans of physical media grabbing it.

FWIW, Bull Moose sent me a shipping notice last night. I placed the order yesterday.
I did it too and cheaper than Amazon though it was less than $75 so had to bite it on the shipping fees |

Re: DEADPOOL & WOLVERINE: Digital October 1, 2024 / Physical October 22, 2024
My copy arrived today and I just finished watching it. I ended up enjoying it more than I feared I would, given I thought it'd be a case where people overhyped the movie. It's not a great movie by any means, but really enjoyable.
The video and audio were good, but the disc was mixed really low. I use Audyssey Dynamic EQ/Volume set to Reference, Offset 0 dB, and Light on my AVR. With those settings, most movies sound fine at -30 dB (and most shows and video games at -40 dB) but I had to crank this up to -20 dB. |

Were you a little cynical that it was overhyped and overpraised and you might not enjoy it? |

Just curious, why didn't you see this in the summer?
Were you a little cynical that it was overhyped and overpraised and you might not enjoy it? That has happened to me a lot this whole year. Heck, the only reason I went to see Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice was because my dad, sister, and stepmom invited me. I would have rather my one outing to the theater to be for anything else, but it was really about spending the rest of the day with family I don't see as often as I'd like. |

Disney discs, especially MCU movies, have been notorious for that for years now.
Although doesn't Sony handle Disney/Fox discs now? Or do they only handle distribution? |

Interesting. I only have a handful of MCU discs and they don't get as much play as movies from other studios. So I must've forgotten.

Re: DEADPOOL & WOLVERINE: Digital October 1, 2024 / Physical October 22, 2024
In theory, a low volume is not a problem (or an error) in itself. If a soundtrack has wide swings in dynamic range, it should be set for a low default volume so that peak highs don't clip. Boosting the volume gain at your receiver is all it takes to compensate for that.
That said, Disney has also been notorious for compressing the dynamic range of its sound mixes for a number of years, at least as far back as Age of Ultron. There really should be no need to set the volume low if the track doesn't have much dynamic range, but they do anyway. I have not watched Deadpool & Wolverine yet to know if that's the case here. |
Re: DEADPOOL & WOLVERINE: Digital October 1, 2024 / Physical October 22, 2024
Once I cranked the volume it sounded fine and no different than most contemporary movies. That being said, it was not super dynamic. It had range but it didn't knock my socks off like Godzilla: Minus One (or any of the Legendary Monsterverse Godzilla/Kong movies). However, it doesn't sound pitiful like the BD for Avengers: Age Of Ultron (is it true the 4K UHD has improved/corrected dynamic range?)
