Is that the new version or just the old Blu-ray with a cow slipcover?

I found out about it lurking at the "other forum". It's a new remastered disc and has a new upc #883929824960. It's only $7.96 at Walmart.

Nice collector's set but I'm happy with these two on my shelf.

I love that the slipcover displays the "We got cows" quote as if it were a critic's blurb.

I saw Twister in theaters but don’t believe I owned it in any form of home video. I just watched it on HBO Max and thought it held up well, even though it’s obviously a product of the ‘90s. I still don’t plan to purchase it, though.

If you wanted to buy it on the cheap I'd recommend the remastered blu-ray from Walmart and its only $7.96.

Vudu had it for $4.99 recently but I held off when I saw it was on HBO.

Is there low stock or a manufacturing error since you have to wait until maybe Aug for Amazon to ship it?

You mean the standard 4k release? I saw it was sold out at Amazon but the Steelbook is still available. I'm guessing it's just high demand for it right now.

I got my steelbook from Amazon on Monday. This is par for the course, it seems, for most limited releases these days from Amazon - particularly for Warner Bros. titles. I had the same issue when the Dune 2 steelbook came out (had to wait an extra couple weeks).

Amazon seems to have an adversarial relationship with many Hollywood studios these days after the MGM purchase so they often limit inventory of new releases. No one is quite sure if this is a Nintendo situation (purposely manufactured scarcity early in the cycle) or Amazon trying to undercut their competition.

Re: Twister (1996)- 4k UHD 7/9/24

Took a bit of a look at this, didn’t see the whole thing but while they did paint out some mistakes like the crew guy in the shot, they at least missed some boom mic reflections. For the sake of purity I still wouldn’t recommend this release, the HD-DVD was untouched and if my copy rots I’ll get the regular Blu-ray, older release obviously.

Re: Twister (1996)- 4k UHD 7/9/24

I dunno. I can't say I recall ever noticing the crew reflections. However, if I had, their current absence wouldn't bother me, given it doesn't change the movie in a meaningful way. This isn't a case of an alternate/extended/director's cut that completely changes the flow or focus of the film. And it's certainly not the case of a lousy transfer. So I am fine with the current presentation. Heck, it's not like the original theatrical soundmix was Dolby Atmos either.
