I don’t buy a ton of Criterion titles really, but some of my favorites I own simply for the films include:
Dazed and Confused The Elephant Man Godzilla Paris, Texas |

I bought a bunch on DVD but only bought Godzilla and Defending Your Life on blu-ray.
So I love both for different reasons. Simple as that. |

Terry Gilliam's Brazil is my second favorite film of all time so that is my choice.

Once I crack into Bruce Lee set, that may contend for tops. Action is my genre and Lee is epitome. I haven’t even seen 2 movies in America set tbh. But, what I have seen…forget about it.

As far as most-favorite movies go, Yojimbo is the highest-ranked Criterion in my top 20 (Even though I don't have it on Blu)
But my most favorite supplements disc was for Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. |
Re: What's the best Criterion release thus far on Blu-ray? (single or box set)
well, if i'm going all out fav film and release i'd def go with The Third Man. i mean that was an entire package with great film, a/v and nice extras if i remember. i still have keepcase edition (not sure what difference between the keepcase and i guess digibook edition that was discontinued. was that scratchable to discs, maybe?) sealed, but still have the Netflix rental blu and it is the Criterion, so i figure i'd keep other sealed for no reason in particular really...

Lots of great choices, but I lean towards Blow Out, Something Wild (the Jonathan Demme one, and the first time I saw it was when it came out on Blu, and its always a pleasure discovering a new favorite movie that I probably should've viewed years ago...And McCabe & Mrs. Miller (the score sounds amazing, and the cinematography was unique and challenging for its time, and I thought the Criterion transfer looked great)...
