Cult/Boutique labels

I feel like I’m late to the game, but this BF I ordered for the 1st time from Severin & Vinegar Syndrome and I am hooked! It’s like an addiction! Their releases are so good! I also am impressed by Blue Underground, and Synapse and of course the big 2 Arrow & Scream Factory. I’m lurking all over the ‘net waiting for their announcements for new releases and sales now!

Another boutique label worth checking out is Scorpion releasing. You can find a lot of their titles on roninflix.com. They are a little pricey in the $28 range.

Check out Film Movement if you lean more heavily into arthouse/international cinema. Quality niche label that treats their releases like Criterion.

...but everyone knows Echo Bridge Entertainment is the top dog label every other label tries to mimic.

I like RoninFlix, DiabolikDVD, and Grindhouse Video stores. Just went for some MVD rewinds and the new Mondo Macbre titles. Pretty stoked over the Milligan & Christopher Lee sets. On the fence on the Weird Wisconsin set 🤔

Vinegar Syndrome has the best slipcovers even if some of the movies they house are not. I have bought about 40 titles from them in just a few months.

Vinegar Syndrome has an awesome collection of vintage erotica. Sexworld on 4K disc is fucking awesome.

Anyone interested in Severin would do well to check out their new(-ish) podcast. Apparently their distribution deal with MVD requires them to announce upcoming releases earlier than before, and the podcast thankfully is more than just a "buy our stuff" routine and actually goes into some detail about how they acquire materials, put together supplements, etc. The last third is a lengthy selection of 'curated' cult film music from films on their label and other rarities. On one of their first podcasts they mentioned that 2021 and beyond would be filled with Joe D'Amato and Bruno Mattai pictures, which kinda put me off (although the upcoming STRIKE COMMANDO shows have their schlocky charms), but their most recent podcast mentions that what sounds like a massive 'Brucespolitation' boxed set is in progress, including a documentary that at present clocks in around three hours and has the participation of many of the clones of Bruce Lee. .
