Is the HD version of "The World At War" documentary worth the upgrade?

Does anyone know if the blu-ray set is cropped, panned vs the DVD set?

Thinking of upgrading but cannot find info and HATE with the do this to older footage to get the quality a little better

I believe the BD release was indeed cropped to "fit the screen" for 16x9 which is why I never picked it up. Unless they did a re-release on BD in 4x3 that I have not heard of.

I'm pretty sure there was a rerelease in the uk that corrected the aspect ratio. No idea of the region status.

Rocket1312 is correct. There was a proper aspect ratio release in the UK that is Region B locked and 1080i/50.

Amazon Amazon

Yep, looks like the UK version is the one to get: Rewind @ www.dvdcompare.net - World at War (The) (TV) (Blu-ray) (1973)
