Croupier is an underrated movie. The older Blu-ray looked decent but unremarkable.

So, a weird little thing.
I posted earlier about how I had bought the Blu-ray of 12 Monkeys and I asked them on Facebook about getting a replacement and they ended up sending me the 4K disc instead of a Blu and I thought it settled.
But then just the other day I received a second replacement 4K disc all the way over from the UK. Anyone else?

I got a second replacement 12 Monkey UHD of the UK version also. Don't know if there is any difference from the original replacement disc.

Unobstructed View has the Shawscope Volume 2 set for $164.99 plus $15 shipping. This is the cheapest price so far here in Canada. Amazon.ca has it for $213.99 right now. Amazon had it for around $200 earlier when it was first announced. I placed my order with Unobstructed View again. For Volume One, I received the set a few weeks early so I'm hoping for the same thing.

A BBFC listing indicates that Arrow is releasing Sonny Chiba’s Karate Inferno. Or the original Executioner rather than the sequel. Seems there’s a bit of a mismatch between title and plot synopsis, but it’s apparently one of the two (or both?).

Considering Volume 1 routinely sells for $80 - $90 US, it's probably worth waiting. This one will get there too. The first Shaw set doesn't seem to be selling out as fast as, say, Arrow's equally ornate and loaded Gamera and Herschel Gordon Lewis boxes back in the day, so I'm thinking Shaw titles may not be the hot sellers they thought they'd be. Still, I'll take 'em! But really, has anyone who owns the first set really found the time to go through the whole thing, supplements and all, just yet? Possibly another reason to hold off for a truly low price on Volume 2.

Terrence J. Brady (whose name you might recognize from the ShawScope sets) sez that Arrow is releasing a Bruce Lee UHD box set next summer.

Bruce Lee 4K?
I think I’ve bought practically every BD/HD version of his movies. I had a feeling this might happen.

Yes, it was on the list of hints from earlier in the year. It got pushed back.

I just got the Shawscope Volume 2 set delivered today from Unobstructed View. For whatever reason I can’t upload the photo from my device.
36th Chamber looks fantastic!

Amazon has the Donnie Darko 4k Limited Edition on sale for 25 bucks. I'm waiting for it to arrive in the mail.
What's the likelihood that my copy will have the defective Theatrical Cut version? I've been reading horror stories that Arrow is now giving customers a hard time if they want a replacement of Disc 1.

.
That said, the stories I saw on the other forum about troubles replacing the defective discs are from people who bought the Special Edition, because, supposedly, the Special Edition wasn't supposed to have defective discs, but some copies did for some reason, and Arrow was refusing to acknowledge that. So, if you truly are getting the Limited Edition, then there should be no issue with getting a replacement disc

Having watched a few films of the Shawscope Volume 2, I feel that is not as good as the first volume even with the inclusion of 36th Chamber trilogy, Invincible Shaolin and Boxer’s Omen.
However, if you are a fan of The Boxer’s Omen, Arrow did an awesome job. It looks really good. It’s worth a purchase just for that. It’s too bad the commentary track for the film is not very good. There’s a lot of pauses and the commentator has a lot of instances in which he can’t recall information.

Is this the same as the Eureka release but for North America? Are the extras on this new?
Edit - It seems this is the same release as the Limited Edition that Eureka released and it’s discontinued.

A couple of interesting titles, but I have to admit nothing that really has me champing at the bit for a day-one purchase.

They have a partnership, so expect more HK titles that Eureka put out to be put out in Region A by Arrow (unless 88 has the rights in Region A). There are some ones that 88 put out in Region B that Arrow is doing for Region A too.

If anyone hasn't already picked up One Armed Boxer but is interested in the exclusive slipcover, it's on sale at $20 at Arrow's online store.

Some of those Giallo Essentials sets lately remind of the Forgotten Gialli sets from VS. Real mixed bags, but packaged all pretty for those who can't say no . . .
