You can thank me... I just recently upgraded my Wild Things DVD to Blu within the last month or so. Looks nice... but I don't think I need a UHD of that.

I don't have Wild Things on any kind of physical media. For some reason I never picked it up.

But yeah this will be mine.

I think I may have blind bought years ago Wild Things 2 on DVD because I had a thing for Susan Ward at the time. But after watching it once, I think I sold it.

I'll get Wild Things on 4K.

Arrow is now going really going after the HK market in Region A that Eureka and 88 have been killing it at in Region B.

Well. with Shaw Brothers titles anyway . . . ;)

I must say, this Ilan Sheady could give Kung Fu Bob a run for his money in the alternate sleeve-art department. Seems to have a better sense of colour and spacing. Bob's art has been getting a bit rushed-looking lately; I have to wonder if he's overworked. Mind you, regardless of who does the new illustrations I always flip to the original HK art anyway, but still.

Also, for those so inclined, Arrow just started a Japanese Cinema Sale this afternoon:

One Armed Boxer is a Golden Harvest title. I was told Arrow has a deal with Fortune Star and they will be targeting the Region A crowd... so it seems they will be doing some releases of stuff that already got released in the UK.

Re: The Official Arrow Films 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread

I stand corrected!

Been so long since I've seen OAB that I misremembered it as a Shaw titles (clearly thinking of One Armed Swordsman trilogy). Good to know some GH titles will get released over here. There's still plenty of good stuff that's not in the Warner Archive or Miramax/Weinstein holdings. Of course, now the problem will be figuring out which UK discs won't get US/Can counterparts, to avoid regretting a UK purchase when a US disc suddenly gets announced. Despite being region-free, I'd still prefer Region A discs if I had to choose . . .

Same. It will save some money not having to import. But it will be annoying to have a wait and see approach to who is releasing what now.

I’m now wondering if it is Arrow who may be the label putting out Police Story 3…

Exactly. Here I am continually grumbling that GH titles aren't getting released over here, and when they finally do start showing up, I'll be grumbling about having bought all the UK editions!

That Wild Things looks nice. Surprised they fit the extras and both cuts on 1 UHD. That’s kinda rare to not include Blu-ray, no? That’s the most I’ve seen for the 1 disc.

Re: The Official Arrow Films 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread

Tremors 4K has all the bonus material on the 4K disc.

Arrow does not include Blu-ray discs with their UHD releases. Maybe they would/have if there's a dedicated disc of extras (can't remember off the top of my head), but they've never included the movie itself on both UHD and Blu-ray.

If this is true.....can there be hope for The Killer and Hard Boiled to be released Stateside by Arrow??

Those two are part of the Golden Princess catalog, not Golden Harvest, and are apparently held up in some kind of rights limbo. Dex14 might know more as he mentioned it in another thread. Golden Princess also produced and/or distributed several other classics: SWORDSMAN 2, THE EAST IS RED, BULLET IN THE HEAD, I LOVE MARIA, FULL CONTACT, BLUE LIGHTNING, PRISON ON FIRE II and others. I'm assuming those are probably off limits for the time being as well?

Aren't the John Woo movies we all want with Fortune Star?

The Killer and Hard Boiled are owned by Golden Princess. As the story goes, Golden Princess is no longer in the film production business and are instead focused on real estate. Labels have reached out to them about licensing those movies (and others) and they don't even get a "no." Golden Princess doesn't even bother to respond. It's apparently not even worth their time or effort.

That said, the Kino insider mentioned on the other forum (had to be a couple years ago at this point) that another label had the rights when asked about the possibility of Kino putting them out. Speculation was that Criterion reacquired then. I wouldn't be surprised if that was bad information on the part of Kino.

Fortune Star has the rights to the Golden Princess catalog in Asia only. One theory was that when signing the deal, not including the rights to the rest of the world was an oversight by Golden Princess that they now can't be bothered to fix. Who knows if that's true.

Re: The Official Arrow Films 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread

Sounds like importing from HK/Asia will remain the only option for Golden Princess titles for the time being, and even there a lot of the HK DVDs and Blus of those titles are OOP. The GP filmography isn’t massive, but as I mentioned it’s top-heavy with great stuff. Guess I’ll be holding onto those discs for a while. I can certainly see real estate holding more interest for a company like that.
