Re: The Official Arrow Blu-ray Thread
Having just received Vamp and Bay of Blood, I must say I'm a little irritated by the double-wide cases they use. Even with the posters and inserts, the discs easily have fit in slim cases.

MoC used slim cases, but I guess they're the exception then. Is there any particular reason for it? It seems like a waste of space to me.

Re: The Official Arrow Blu-ray Thread
Every UK release I have imported uses the thicker-style BD cases. I usually just slightly cut the artwork and slip them in a USA-style case to save space. Except for titles that have Slip Covers...no point.

Re: The Official Arrow Blu-ray Thread
My MoC copy of Une Femme Mariee is the thicker case. All of my U.K. imports are that way though, I just put them on the shelf doesn't bother me.

Re: The Official Arrow Blu-ray Thread
Aren't the thicker cases only on the initial pressings in the UK in general? Don't they start using the slim ones after that? Usually it's thick case with sleeve then slim case, no sleeve.
I usually pre-order Arrow discs so I don't know what they do after the initial pressings. I imagine with all the packaging that goes into it they need the large case.

The only imports I own are Let the Right One In and The Vitner's Luck. Both are the thicker cases, although Let the Right One In includes a slipcover.

The Beyond BD is in stock at Diabolik.
FYI, early copies still have the opening in B&W and the feature has a low bit rate. Contact Arrow and provide proof of purchase, they will send you the corrected version.

I thought the opening was supposed to BE in black and white and only the German theatrical release had it in color?

Re: The Official Arrow Blu-ray Thread
Many releases over the years have had the opening in sepia tone (Grindhouse, Anchor Bay) but the correct tinting should be a yellow-gold which was available on two release that I'm aware of (No Shame, EC Entertainment). The No Shame version came from the original negative. The DP has stated he used colored gels to obtain the yellow-gold effect instead of the usual sepia tone.
It is still not known what the Arrow opening will look like except that it definitely is not B&W. The test discs were B&W and low bit rate and were replaced by the 'correct sepia.' We shall see what that means soon.

I've read lots of people on various Cult/Horror Films forums being bothered by Arrow's use of DNR.

Re: The Official Arrow Blu-ray Thread
Excessive DNR seems to be an ongoing issue with this company. They should spend less time on atrocious cover art and more time on quality control. That said, I thought Vamp looked quite good, all things considered. The selection of extras was pretty nice as well - Deedee Pfeiffer is as adorable as ever - but I don't think they need to include opening and closing credits for a 25 minute featurette.
