It's amazing. One of the best slashers I've seen in some time. Very, very, very highly recommended.

I just have to say that Beyond The Valley Of The Dolls looks fantastic.

It is one of my favorite movies of that time. It's just so all over the place. Any recommedations on anything else like it?

Everything else Russ Meyer ever made. :D

Unfortunately, the best available package to date appears to have gone out of print, but since it was likewise an Arrow release, perhaps we'll see a Blu-ray set some day.

That set was re-released in a Digipak or Book packaging (if I'm not mistaken) later on. That version is still in print.

I have that new packaging. Same content, even the book. Only difference is the digipak. Great set BTW (pun intended).

I knew there was another one! :) I actually bought both of the UK Meyer sets back in the day -- thankfully I was able to flip the first one for a bit more than I paid for it, to a local burlesque performer, no less (!) -- but for some reason the newer one isn't readily obvious if you search 'Russ Meyer Collection' in the DVD & Blu-Ray category since it seems to lump the two together beside the picture for the earlier set. I think there was a thread here years ago about this set where someone brought up a similar issue where it couldn't be searched at all. Sadly, it appears that both of them are OOP -- Amazon doesn't sell it direct and it's long gone from Arrow's site -- so those prices are probably as good as it gets for now.

The later set also included EUROPE IN THE RAW, as I recall, so you got 19 "uplifting classics" instead of 18 :) , and I don't recall the book being in the 18-film collection.

Arrow went above and beyond the call of duty, giving us three different cuts of the Thanksgiving slasher. The movie itself is a fairly typical low-budget slasher from the early 80s. It has some interesting gore but the acting is somewhat bizarre.

I actually have the most recent set and have been going through it lately. I know Faster Pussycat Kill! Kill! gets all the attention but there are several better films in that collection.

Blood Rage is the cut I recommend most, it's what the director intended for everyone. Unfortunately, Blood Rage sat around for a few years and was finally released as Nightmare at Shadow Woods. That cut has truly odd footage inserted in place of some cut material. Arrow went and made some kind of super-edit with all available footage for a third cut, but it's more a novelty than anything else.

I wrote a review! If you're into ridiculous '80s slashers, it's essential viewing and a hell of a special edition.

Worth mentioning is the U.S. release of Blood Rage had an issue with the DVD in that set. It wasn't coded for Region 1. If you are Region-Free, it won't matter but if you aren't, I believe Arrow has a replacement program for it.

I like these boutique labels that give us these lesser known films but I hate the prices. I want Blood Rage as it sounds awesome but I don't know if I really want to spend $30 on it. I know stuff from the likes of Arrow, Shout/Scream, etc. don't drop in price very often though.

If you have an FYE around you, I've seen members of other forums post getting it there for $19.99 (Sale Price). Same reflected price online as well.

I also think Target has it for $25 (Free Shipping) via their Ebay account.

Around Nov-Dec, it was about $18 at Deepdiscount (before a 10-15% discount code). Keep and eye out there and/or Dvdplanet.

Arrow is working on a US store which should have cheaper prices and regular sales. Not sure when exactly that will happen, sometime this year.

Both Sho Kosugi titles are down to $19.99 on Amazon, so I ordered them both.

They only got to release it in the UK but Arrow Video did a beautiful, beautiful job on Beyond the Valley of the Dolls. A stunning film transfer with fantastic audio.

US releases of Battles Without Honor & Humanity & Edgar Allen Poe's Black Cats are OOP.

Whatever stock is left among retailers is all that is left in the States.
