The Evil Dead ('81) - Ultra HD Blu-ray - 10/9/18
Discussed already in UHD Announcements, but I figured since we have a press release and cover art, it's ready for its own thread.

We're gettin' both widescreen and full-frame. Uh, sounds like you might want to hold onto your existing BDs, DVDs, or whatever if you want any extras, though.

Can't bring myself to get this one, I already have a "custom SE", I got a 5 disc case and put in the 3 disc DVD set, the regular Bluray and the DVD of the remake.
I might be interested in something for part 2 though, as it doesn't seem to get as much attention.

I was kind of hoping they would actually make this the definitive release and include every special feature. Silly me.
I love this movie but I'm going to have to wait and see if it's worth the upgrade.

What happened to Anchor Bay? Along with Halloween (1978), this is the first time I can remember them not releasing this movie on Home Media.

Anchor Bay Entertainment (formerly Video Treasures), (also known as Anchor Bay Films) was an American home entertainment and production company. It was a subsidiary of Lionsgate through Starz Inc. Anchor Bay marketed and sold feature films, series, television specials and short films to consumers worldwide. In 2004, Anchor Bay agreed to have its movies distributed by 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment and renewed their deal in 2011.[1] A year after Lionsgate acquired Starz in 2016, the latter folded Anchor Bay into Lionsgate Home Entertainment.

I would bite if they undid all the cheap "fixes" they've put in when it first went HD. There was no need for any of them, and if they wanted to fix the film, they should have spent more than 5 minutes on it.

Badass Steelbook coming to Best Buy that supposedly has both 1 & 2 in it.

This one and the new Halloween one shall be mine!

If it has 1 & 2 in it (as the listing states), I'm definitely picking that Steelbook up!

Picked up the Best Buy Exclusive earlier today.
I never got a chance to pick-up the original (separate) releases, so I'm happy to have this.

And the commentaries are some of the best you will ever listen to (if they are included).

Was shopping for something else at Best Buy the other day when I noticed that they had the Evil Dead 1/2 4K SteelBook back in stock, with one copy available at my local store. Popped that into my cart for curbside pickup. Thought I had missed out on this.
It's a very nice looking SteelBook and, much like Ghost in the Shell, the way the clear slipcover overlays and interacts with the art is cool.
