There are hardly ever release week discounts for anything anymore. However most films will be discounted to $10-$15 within the first month. Only suckers buy movies at release.
Disney releases generally don't get that low except for Black Friday, but there are still better deals to be had if you wait. I got Black Panther for 17.99 at Target within the first month of release.

I do buy the big Marvel and Star Wars releases right away generally though. Since Disney releases generally don’t drop I just go for them right away. Sometimes there are semi decent deals release week. I’ve been buying the 4K releases of the last few Marvel releases because they’ve been okay deals and I’m justifying them as future proofing those movies.

Damn, it sounds like this transfer and sound got jacked up on both blu and UHD. What an ass job Disney.

The video I don't think is necessarily Disney's fault. Solo received a lot of complaints from theaters as well about its murky, overly-dark photography. That seems to be a very pretentious artistic choice by Ron Howard and cinematographer Bradford Young.

Maybe but if you wait until Nov or Dec you are not going to get the slipcase and you need the slipcase for blu-rays since the cases are so delicate compared to dvd cases and the artwork gets flattened if you store it with other blu-rays.

Aw, you know what, it was because I bought the Target version. Perhaps that is why I have a Thor: Ragnorak DVD as well.

Disney still packages DVD's with their animated fare, but usually not with Star Wars or Marvel, unless you spring for a store exclusive or something like that.

What is the Wal-Mart exclusive?
It looks like the standard edition to me at their web page.

This is the SKU that's labeled a "Walmart Exclusive".
No idea what the exclusive part is. One of the corners looks curved, the slipcover doesn't reference a digital copy or Movies Anywhere, and the 'Multiscreen Edition' thing is gone.

There were a number of "Walmart Exclusives" from Fox that lacked any extras. I got one of the "Taken" movies that way which didn't include the extended cut of the movie, then the regular edition that did have both cuts ended up at the same price level eventually.
Back on topic, my 3D steelbook was 'dispatched' last week.

The Target exclusive version does NOT have a DVD this time, and the "bonus content" is digital and not on disc.

Re: SOLO (A STAR WARS STORY) : 4K UHD / Blu-ray
I never got around to picking this up last week so I went to Target today. They had a stander near the register with two copies of the exclusive 4K for $32.99, which sounded a little high so I went to the media area downstairs, and they had the regular 4K for $29.99 ($22.99 for BD, no copies of the exclusive). A guy came by and made a comment about their not having the exclusive, so I mentioned that they had two copies upstairs so he went up there. I figured three bucks wasn't much difference so I also went up and grabbed the second and last copy of the exclusive.

It actually came out today, not last week.

Ah, you're right. It came out digitally like a week and a half ago so that's what I was thinking of. So I did get street-date price after all (if $32.99 is anything to be happy about)!
EDIT: I think the issue was that it came out digitally on Friday 6/14 so I was thinking the following Tuesday 6/18 was the media release date, but there was a 10-day digital window. I really was kicking myself all last week for not having gotten it yet.

I'm accustomed to Amazon waiting until release date to list Disney titles. I'm surprised they're still not selling Solo, this late in the day.
