I'll get the 4k release this time. I have no need for the dvds at this point.

I bought season one at the dirt cheap price but haven't even opened it. I just see no reason to while my Netflix sub is still active.

Yeah, they fucking screwed customers with the first season. $10 price mere weeks after everyone paid $25+ AND a 4K/UHD release a couple weeks after release.
Fat chance I'm buying on release week this time.

I believe Stranger Things is a conscious loss-leader for Target. They know physical media fans have little interest going into Target much anymore, and it's their way of luring in those customers for the Christmas season.

Plus they really promote the show. They’ve got various pieces of merchandise (shirts, socks, lunch boxes, backpacks, toys, etc.). They probably paid a bunch for rights to carry merchandise.

Target has sent out their BF ad and this is not in there. Doesn't mean it will not be included, but last year I believe it was in their primary BF ad.

^ I was just coming here to say that same thing. I don't know how long I want to wait to pick this up. They may have learned from their mistakes the first time around and decided they're not going to make the same mistakes this time. Who knows?

Picked up Stranger Things: Season 2 this morning (Target Exclusive Collector's Edition, BD+DVD, VHS Clamshell packaging this time). I figure I have 30 days beyond Dec. 26th to return it if it goes on some kind of sale before then, meanwhile I got my copy of it NOW.
Wish I could post an image of it but Target doesn't allow copying images like everyone else, and I don't feel like hassling with taking a pic of it and uploading it to Imgur.

A red cassette usually means it's either Hunt for Red October, or porn!

I'd be surprised if we don't see a price reduction for BF. Maybe not loss leader pricing, but something less.
I picked one up and I'm keeping the receipt until Dec.

Are the sets just blurays or 4k? Are they not combo packs?

One is 4K and Blu-Ray, the other is Blu-Ray and DVD.

Either way they will eventually get discounted similar to S1.

Love the packaging for the new Season.
Finally picked up a copy of Target Exclusive earlier today.

They used a slip-over-the-top design for S1. S2 is a plastic clam shell.
I wonder what they will do with S3? Maybe a side design like the old blank recordables came with?

Currently $19.99 on their site for season 2 Blu-ray till Saturday. Anyone gonna bite?

I had already bought it at $24.99 but kept it packed up with the receipt just in case. Ordered it (along with 2 other videos for BF) while @ $19.99, I'll keep whichever copy looks best, return the other at the store with my original receipt when it goes off sale Saturday. Figured $20 is a good enough price. Besides, I want to find out what happens next....

Stupid customer service wouldn't credit the difference on my CC so I just returned it and repurchased the 4k for $24.

It makes sense, though I know it's inconvenient for the Customer. The solution is exactly what you ended up doing.

I waited because I was one of the people who felt screwed last year when the price dropped 40% weeks later.
If it goes down to $15 at some point during the holidays, I won't mind as much having only paid $20.
I need to go in tomorrow and pick it up from CS, but I dread the mass of humanity out and about this weekend.
