Any fix for lip sync issues?

Really ticking me off with my Star Trek OS blu-ray set.

I had some issue with Twilight Zone and now I buy the Star Trek OS complete BD set and after about 20 minutes of playback, I notice it being off slightly then when there is about 5-8 minutes left in the show, it is way off, maybe a full second or more!

The weird thing is when I restart an episode and frame advance to the end, the sync is ok, it only seems to be happening during full regular playback of a show. Seems to be the same in season 2 and on 2 different BD players of mine.

Thoughts?

Should I buy another set? My set is one that released about 6-7 years ago.

Re: Any fix for lip sync issues?

Are you using a non HDMI receiver?

The only time I've run across sync issues is when listening through an audio receiver that isn't HDMI.
The video to the tv through HDMI is being processed at a different speed than the audio through a separate connection.
Is audio out of sync with tv speakers?
Make sure audio and video is being carried through same cable.
That's all I got.

Check the delay from your receiver. There's usually a feature on there that lets you tweak it a bit to sync to the programming.

Yes, this is a TV/Home Theater issue and not a disc issue - at least with the discs you mention.

Agreed—equipment and not disc.

Turn off any extraneous video processing in your TV's setup menu, especially Frame Interpolation (aka MotionFlow, Smooth Motion, Auto Motion Plus, etc.). Those features add delays to the video which can throw audio sync off.

I have the same problem as well and also with the Star Trek: The Wrath of Khan Director’s Edition Blu-ray. Both TOS and TWOK utilize seamless branching, so there may be an issue with that.

Sadly, some TVs nowadays don't let you turn it off. It's an always-on, non-defeatable feature.

I can't recall the specifics offhand, but I know it's happened. Probably in some of those low-end "Roku TV" things that only have two adjustable settings in the entire setup menu.
