Went into my local store today to pick up the Star Wars: TFA 3D set I purchased earlier this week and noticed they actually had 1 left of each(2d & 3D) Moana steelbook in the new release section right by the front door. For that price I passed on it as I can wait on a deal on the regular release.

I just watched this a second time with the kids yesterday and it was even better the second time around. The songs, animation, voice work, everything it top notch. Disney has been on a roll over the past couple years with their animated releases. Moana, Zootopia, Big Hero 6, Frozen, Wreck-It Ralph, Tangled, etc. It's pretty crazy, any other studio would kill for a film library like that.

After being named chief creative officer of Disney Animation, one of the first changes Lasseter put into effect was dismissing the suits and shifting the focus from an executive-led operation back to an artist-driven enterprise, where the ideas for feature films “come from the heart” of individual filmmakers.
Say "So Long !" to direct-to-video sequels
John Lasseter felt that the steady stream of cheaply made video premieres that DisneyToon Studios had produced over the past decade had severely undercut the perceived value of the full-blown animated features that WDAS was producing.
Which is why -- almost from the moment that John arrived on the Disney lot -- he began using his influence to pull the plug on various DisneyToon projects. First "The Aristocats 2," followed by "Chicken Little 2 : The Ugly Duckling Story" and "Meet the Robinsons 2: First Date." Lasseter also derailed "Disney's Dwarfs," a new direct-to-video franchise...

This surprised me a little in how much I loved this movie. Everything worked. Disney never ceases to amaze. They make every tried and true story, similar formula, but make it so fresh in ways you don't expect. I love Frozen, but this is close second to more recent Disney fair...

Yeah we did. Chicken Little and Meet the Robinsons were such critical and commercial blockbusters that we needed more in those worlds.

Chicken Little was horrible, but I liked Meet the Robinsons.

I liked Meet the Robinsons too. Mostly because of this.

Well those were going to be direct to video anyway, right? And they eventually made a quirky show about the 7 dwarves (basically just using the dwarves names), I wonder if that was the same thing.
