Re: Walt Disney Animated Classics 2017 Blu-ray releases
The best reasons to me to own this new Bambi is that the special features can now be seen on Vudu. Especially to see the Oscar winning Animated Short, The Old Mill in HD. And it is also the only way to get the thought lost Oswald the Lucky Rabbit short, Africa Before Dark, also can be seen on Vudu. It was lost until a full copy was recently found. And not on the Disney Treasures.
Same I can say for Pinocchio, including the thought lost Oswald short Poor Papa.
Wish they would have done this for Snow White and Sleeping Beauty.

So, it turns out the release date of TLK is actually 8/29. This is interesting in that it looks like Disney might actually be moving to 4 Signature titles per year.
Parts 2 and 1 1/2 will also be issued in new BD+DVD+Digital HD combos packs on the same day.

Depends on what you call good
I believe 1 1/2 was basically Timon & Pumbaa watching the first movie and talking over it (mystery science theater style) with some new stuff thrown in. The second movie was better but not by much. Thankfully I only spent a couple bucks on each during one of Hastings sales. I think our kids only watched each one once and they didn't seem very entertained.

Re: Walt Disney Animated Classics 2017 Blu-ray releases
This thread reminds me that it's been a while since I bought any of the classic BDs. I really don't need to rebuy Pinocchio and Bambi, but for the titles that came out before digital, I might look to use Amazon or Xbox credits to get the digital versions and let DMA port them over.
Lion King 2 was considered one of the better DTV sequels early in the digital era, but it's been years since I've seen it. Regardless, it didn't deserve its spot in this collection:

I already put my pre-order in but I'm kind of sad that it won't have a Lenticular to match all of the previous Disney Best Buy Exclusive releases.

That's a nice looking Steelbook, have to try and order that. I liked The Lion King 2. Not as good as the original but a decent enough sequel by direct to video Disney standards. I haven't seen The Lion King 1 1/2 though.

The two Lion King sequels were hard to sit through IMO. One viewing is more than enough for our family.

Yeah, that set was pretty early in the DVD era (I'm thinking 1999-ish), and The Lion King didn't come out till several years later for whatever reason. Including the DTV sequel in that set, though, seemed like a bait-and-switch for people who weren't paying attention.

Damn straight, I love this one. So glad I got it when it was available.
Same release as before sans 3D disc. Probably less extras this time around.

Disney and Amazon are having a pissing match again, so no preorders on Amazon for Disney titles.

Re: Walt Disney Animated Classics 2017 Blu-ray releases
I noticed that the new signature collection blu-ray of the lion king added back in the missing clouds to the Mufasa ghost scene that were missing in the diamond edition blu-ray as I still have my diamond edition blu-ray and I also have the signature collection as well as the platinum special edition DVD in case anyone is wondering
