Suicide Squad - December 13

SUICIDE SQUAD EXTENDED CUT COMING TO BLU-RAY

The physical edition will be available in December.

BY NICOLE CARPENTER Suicide Squad's home entertainment plan has been revealed, including the theatrical version and an extended cut of the film. It will be available on Digital HD on November 15, while the physical Blu-ray and DVD versions will be released December 13.

The extended cut adds 13 more minutes of previously unseen footage to the film, and will also be available to own on Digital HD. An Ultra HD Blu-ray of Suicide Squad will cost $44.95, while the Blu-ray 3D combo pack will go for $44.95, the Blu-ray combo pack for $35.99, and the 2-disc DVD special edition for $28.98. Suicide Squad: Extended Cut will be available on the Ultra HD Blu-ray, Blu-ray 3D combo pack, and Blu-ray combo pack. All Blu-ray editions come with a digital version of both the extended film and the theatrical version in Digital HD.

Initially released on August 5, Suicide Squad ended up as one of the summer's top-grossing films. Because of its success, Harley Quinn and the Joker top lists naming the best-selling Halloween costumes for this year. IGN gave Suicide Squad a 5.9 out of 10 in our review, saying that "the DCEU strike[d] out with Task Force Meh."

Hopefully Target will have a digibook exclusive to match MoS and BvS.

I quite enjoyed it (I know I'm in the minority) and eager to see the Extended Cut. Hopefully, there is a steelbook somewhere stateside. If no steelbook is available, then I'll just wait a few months until the price comes down to manageable levels.

I'll pick up the 4K when it's $17.99 or under. Theatrical or not, I could care less.

Yeah, same here.

I also hope most of the 13 minutes is putting the Joker back in.

Actually, you can order the 4k steelbook for $17.49 if you buy another 4k title through Best Buy right now. I haven't pulled the trigger but I'm probably going to snag the Labyrinth 4k steelbook with this. I'm looking at my cart right now, and they are actually discounting the higher one (Suicide Squad). 2 exclusives with one stone so to speak.

Edit: Trigger pulled. Worked out to ~$46 with tax. That's pretty darn good for two exclusive 4k steelbooks. And I'll be able to pick up Labyrinth this weekend.

Yes! Love the cover!

All we need now is for the price to go down and for them to add the $5 GC pre-order deal!

Thanks for the Heads-Up. I picked up Ghostbusters 4K/3D Steelbook yesterday, but I can return that and re-buy it at another location today that still has it in stock, and get Suicide Squad Steelbook delivered to me for $17.50 Great deal

Re: Suicide Squad - December 13

I would reckon that the Target price will drop to $24.99 on release day.

Unless they figure people who bought their MoS and BvSDoJ exclusives will start paying more to keep their DCEU blu-rays consistent.

Re: Suicide Squad - December 13

I probably wouldn't pick this up right away but since Target is continuing with their Digibook editions of the DC films I'll grab it since I have the ones for Man of Steel and Batman V Superman. Sort of wish I had gone with the Steelbooks since I don't really care for lenticular covers (the sound of the stuff drives me insane when it's scratched ).

I have this vision of Mike86 sitting in a darkened room, scratching the cover over and over and shuddering a little each time.

Re: Suicide Squad - December 13

I don't know what it is about the stuff but it just bothers me for some reason. I normally avoid it or throw away slip covers that use it (I toss most slip covers anyway unless the art is different from the main case) but I bought the book for Man of Steel and now I want to keep collecting them.

Re: Suicide Squad - December 13

It looks like the Best Buy steelbook art has been updated. It actually looks good now and matches the artwork on the Target version.

Re: Suicide Squad - December 13

Unlike Batman v Superman, it doesn't sound like the Extended Cut adds much

should be forewarned that the ten minutes of added scenes in the extended cut do not significantly alter the plot or fill in any gaps. For those who enjoyed the movie, the additional character beats will probably be entertaining; for those who didn't, they'll just slow it down.

That's a shame - I was planning to blind buy it if it was made significantly better. Going to hold off now. Maybe I'll buy it if I get gift cards for the holidays.

Re: Suicide Squad - December 13

Saw the Steelbook at Best Buy. It looks very nice. Saw the Target Lenticular Digibook and that is nice as well.

The fucking mess of a cover image (the image of an atomic explosion that was deleted and replaced with the current Steelbook cover here) is actually the cover of a Best Buy exclusive hardcover graphic novel + Blu Ray.

Also, it appears WB is following Universal's lead and just like Secret Life of Pets last week, the more-expensive 3D edition (and the 4K edition) does not include a DVD copy though the standard Blu Ray edition does.
