When LOTR comes out on UHD, I hope they remove that fucking green tint from the extended edition of FOTR.

Enough with that non-existent bullshit.

Non-existent? Whether or not it's a big deal/small deal or if it's correct/incorrect is up for debate, but it most definitely exists.

I like the way I said it better.

I'd be in if it included a one film edit of The Hobbit.

In this case, I'm gonna keep buying different titles rather than replacing what I already own.

Re: Middle Earth Collection - 10/4/16

I saw an image of the set today. Something I would love to have if the price was right, and I didn't already have the exact same collection of discs. In my opinion it's a very attractive way to add new non-disc extras in a functional way rather than include things like film cells or statues. I like it a lot better than that big Potter Wizard's Box that I purchased, and now regret, given they came out with a much more attractive and reasonable way (the big book) to purchase the same discs, in one package, with out the silly carddboard drawers.

$799? Does it have an autographed picture of the entire cast?

From the looks of that picture that's a $200-250 set maximum.

They should replace the dvds in that set with blus of the theatrical versions, then it would be complete.

Also, $25 per movie should be asking price, so around $150.

I am going to call it now that the DVDs are scratched and won't play due to the sliding against cardboard just like in that huge Harry Potter box set. Look on amazon.com, most of those reviews mention faulty discs.

No, these slots in the page look more like the quality, secure ones like the used in the original Alien set, which work perfectly and don't scratch anything. It's the Universal slots, like ones used in their monsters and Hitchcock sets that cause scratching and may contain glue residue stuck to the discs.

Re: Middle Earth Collection - 10/4/16

Four of my six Alien blu-rays had faint hairline scratches on them, though the discs played fine. I keep them in a different case.

Storing optical discs in a way where the playing surface slides across another surface is not a good idea. (Ditto the "stacker" cases that we've been seeing lately.)

But if I did buy this set, I'd probably never take the discs out since I already have the other sets.

None of the discs in my HP Wizards set has any scratches. In fact, all of them, save for the bonus disc in a sleeve, are on hubs.

Blu-rays, at the very least, do seem to be harder to scratch than DVDs.

That's by design - they have that protective coating because the data layer is much closer to the surface than on DVD's.

They must be hoping people panic on the "Limited Edition" angle. I admit that did make me bite on the Batman TV series limited set... a year after it came out.

Re: Middle Earth Collection - 10/4/16

That's almost $135 per movie - anyone who's in the market for this thing already owns all these movies and their extras. This is pure gouging. I wonder how much they'd charge just for the packaging if people wanted to stick the discs they already have into it.

Re: Middle Earth Collection - 10/4/16

What was the original MSRP for that Harry Potter Wizard's Collection box? I doubt very few paid anywhere near that amount whatever it was. I got it during a major Black Friday deal at Costco real cheap.

It's down to $719.99 now. I'll bite at $169.
