Why has Bloodline Season 1 never been released on BluRay/DVD?

I don't have Netflix, but I buy the BluRay's of particular shows from them that I am interested in (House of Cards comes to mind).

I see that Bloodline Season 2 has been released for Streaming, but they still haven't released Season 1 on BluRay/DVD? Most of the great shows from Netflix get a BluRay/DVD release, but for some reason Bloodline hasn't?

I keep hearing great things about this show, and I am really dying to watch it.

Same reason why most TV shows no longer get relased on blu anymore. And Netfix has only released a handful of their shows on blu, namely OITNB and House of Cards. Of course, you may be able to get it on DVD. They seem to still be pushing that out.

I would buy it on DVD, but I can't even find a release for it either.

That's why I said you may be able to. Flip side on that you you might not be able to. They're dependent on Netflix subscribers, so as you can see, they're going after people like you. You like their shows enough, they want you to get Netflix. It may be the only way you can see their shows in the future if they don't continue to push media.

It is a double edged sword for them as well. Yes they want people to subscribe, but they also want to try to make money off people that don't subscribe. If one can buy every show they produce on dvd maybe one won't subscribe. Maybe the only way to watch their shows in HD is to subscribe. Amazon is taking preorders for blue ray and dvds of season 1, so they must think it is coming out at some point.

Sony retained distribution rights for it in Germany, and as such you can import it from there.

Region Free Blu-ray: https://www.amazon.de/Bloodline-komp...ords=bloodline ($24.37 USD)

Region 2 DVD: https://www.amazon.de/Bloodline-komp...ords=bloodline ($22.28 USD)

Marco Polo S1 was released on both Blu & DVD. And Narcos has just recently been announced as getting the same treatment. Bloodline, DD and Jessica Jones might still come out. Especially for Bloodline since Amazon has pre-orders up, as jjcool says, then that seems like a promising sign.

I get the feeling that Netflix has exclusive rights to those programs for a predetermined period of time. Trust me, even Disney would have put Daredevil out by now on Blu-ray if they could.

Netflix doesn't decide what gets released on DVD/BD, the distributor of the particular program does. I'm sure there's some kind of exclusive contract in place so that the DVD/BD can't be released in a certain timeframe, but after that it's all on the distributor.

Daredevil S1 is coming out on Blu in the UK on Oct 3rd. So it's hit and miss with Netflix shows on Blu. Mostly miss.
