I think that Shout/Scream are priced fairly decently and I see them on sale more often. With Shout/Scream I've probably paid at most around $20-$25 which to me for a boutique label release isn't that bad. Arrow releases seemingly are $25 at the lowest and usually closer to $30 or above. You might get more but you do pay more generally too. Frankly as nice as the booklets are I don't care about them much as I usually will look through them once and besides that they stay in the case.

The types of films each one puts out lean to particular genres.

Arrow Academy has released films like The Naked City & Sweet Smell of Success while Arrow has done mostly Cult Films/Favorites.

How much work with transfers does each company do?

With Scream Factory aren't their extensive work with transfers (usually) only with the Collector's Editions?

Zavvi and Amazon UK have regular deals on Arrow titles. I usually get Arrow titles for around $15 a piece or less. Of course, the Limited Editions do carry a hefty price, and rarely can I get them at a deal unless Amazon suddenly does something.

True that some bad Shout titles might be messed up only because of the masters they were given, but some companies would push for something better rather than just use whatever they get. Their "Angry Beavers" set is pretty bad considering how recent that show was made- jittery picture all around and mono sound for the last 2 or so seasons.

The most important thing to me is A/V quality and Arrow is definitely superior there. I also enjoy the booklets with film essays and analyses that Arrow includes. It's fun to collect Scream Factory titles, but they tend to favor quantity over quality.
