In terms of the tech-specs - it's not demo all the way through - the audio portion is not reference.

Hoping it's good. Granted, I'd buy a bare bones release. I just really enjoyed the movie.

Directed by Laurent Bouzereau? Fuck yeah. His stuff is fantastic -- even his Making-of documentary about 1941 was entertaining.

Weird that the digital copy of this film, of all films didn't come out early when just about every movie has a digital-exclusive purchase window of a few weeks prior to BR release.

I thought you were all about giving up on physical media and falling in love with Vudu?

If he's buying physical media, don't look a gift horse in the mouth. Just be thankful.

He was making such a big deal about getting away from physical. That would be like my vegan friend who has a burger because "but, it's In N Out." Hey, if someone wants to do both, by all means go with it. But trying to convince others of the virtues of Vudu and not putting their money where their mouth is, is a tad hypocritical.

Anyway, Happy Easter :)

i never pushed/convinced my views on anyone. i just said i loved Vudu all of a sudden. i didn't say i was quitting cold turkey buying physical media, ever! i think you totally misread any of my posts about the subject...

Well, according to those specs, it looks like the read through is a 4 minute piece, which is disappointing.

The Force Awakens deleted scenes on the disc will include:
  • Stormtrooper Finn’s run-in with a Jakku village woman in the opening attack.
  • Han, Finn, and Chewie face down a squadron of stormtroopers in Maz Kanata’s basement.
  • Kylo Ren leads snowtroopers to the crashed Millennium Falcon at Starkiller Base, and has an emotional remembrance inside.
  • General Leia is introduced earlier in the film, as Major Brance (Emun Elliott) gets a distress signal from BB-8 informing them of the attack on the Jakku village.
  • Poe Dameron and the other X-Wings prepare for lightspeed as they head into battle, giving us a chance to see starships in space.
  • Finn and Rey escape Starkiller base on a First Order snowspeeder, while another gives chase.
  • Rey gets an update on an injured Finn’s condition from Dr. Kalonia (Harriet Walton).

I can't remember where, but I read somewhere that particular deleted scene will only be available online or to download. Very odd!

I wonder if it was a true read-through or more a marketing thing, having the whole cast together. It was a cool photo that got released and sure got nerd boners popping.

According to the articles I have read, It was a full read through. Since Hammill didn't have any lines they had him read the stage directions.

Probably would have been 3-5 hours of hey recorded the whole thing. I doubt they read straight through it and not stopped at places from time to time. 4 minutes is good, I'm sure it'll have some good stuff.

Or maybe they'll have the whole thing on the upcoming 3D release. Wouldn't that be comical.

While it would be interesting to watch the whole thing, it's probably one of those things that sounds better than it actually is.

If they had extended it to say, 15-20 minutes, then I think more would feel better about it. There is probably at least that much content in there where either the read was especially entertaining, or it became another deleted/alternate scene collection because the script evolved over time.

Will the standard release be $19.99 at most stores except Best Buy where it is $24.99?

bunkaroo 03-29-16 09:14 AM

Re: Star Wars: The Force Awakens - April 5th, 2016

I bet Best Buy drops to 19.99 but not until release day. They don't automatically adjust pre-order prices and they are probably banking on most people not bothering with it if they pre-ordered through them.

I will wait until Tuesday and just pick it up locally somewhere for 19.99.

Glad that the standard edition is using the theatrical poster art. Already have my copy pre-ordered from Amazon and looking forward to watching the film again!

Re: Star Wars: The Force Awakens - April 5th, 2016

Get ready to take it in the @ss from Best Buy if you want that steelbook next week. $27.99 for that version or $19.99 for the regular version per their ad for next week.

I also mentioned it in the Hateful Eight thread, but Best Buy is getting ridiculous on their steelbook pricing. $25 for Hunger Games & Hateful Eight and $28 for Star Wars. 10 Cloverfield Lane and Deadpool are currently listed for $29.99. How did we go from $19.99 Marvel 3D steelbooks to this??

Supermallet 03-29-16 12:48 PM

Re: Star Wars: The Force Awakens - April 5th, 2016

I canceled my steelbook order and ordered the regular version from Amazon. I liked the artwork better and since there's no additional content at BB, no reason to get it from there.

Looks like that is accurate if the Blu-Ray.com review is correct (and why wouldn't it be?), I guess because it's the scene most people would want to see since it features Han and Chewie.

Sigh.

Of course they will not give a refund for the difference if you buy it today for $24.99 when it drops to $19.99 next week

Ugh.. What a load of shit. There's a second extra features disc so why couldn't have it just have been included there?

On the video I posted on the previous page, you can hear Hamill say "A long time ago in a galaxy far far away." That's about all we get so far, but hopefully those 4 min are substantive.

Great... so now there are 2 Store Exclusive content (Target DMA & Best Buy Bonus Disc).... I wonder if the content is different and if so, by how much...

Just a reminder, you can also use DMR points in exchange for a $5 coupon.

Re: Star Wars: The Force Awakens - April 5th, 2016

Here is what Taget now has on their site.

Please note: Bonus content is high-definition digital format. Your Target Exclusive packaging will have a code inside with instructions on how to redeem the Target Exclusive bonus content on Disney Movies Anywhere (DMA). If you don't have a DMA account, you will be asked to create an account (free of charge).

Are you posting about this?

It's not clear if that is a coupon that can be used at Best Buy or only within Disney's system.

That would make more sense since BB has the steelbook.
