Comes out October 20th

I previously had the trilogy on DVD and currently own the 25th Anniversary edition on BD. I don't know if I could triple dip on this. I love these movies, but there is only so much new content they could add.

I love the films but not sure if I'll quadruple dip (I still have my original VHS copies off all three plus the DVD set and the Blu-ray collectible set from the UK). If there's some good new features maybe I'll go for it at some point but I don't think I'll pick it up right away unless its cheap.

According to what I posted there is a new bonus disc with 2 hours of extras.

Yeah. It depends what kind of features they are though. If its mostly fluff stuff I'm not too interested. The previous sets had some decent making of features and behind the scenes stuff already so not sure what else can be added but we'll see.

Yikes, not for $100. And the animated series are on DVDs? WTF.

^^^ That's the limited edition set. It's for pre-order at Amazon for $88.

The animated series was probably only produced in standard definition and that's probably what was only available. it aired in 1991 (pre-HD) and is probably 4:3.

That's the DVD edition, the Blu is currently $99.88 on Amazon.

And it'll drop in price I'm sure.

There's no benefit to putting the tv series on Blu-ray. Probably about the only reason to do so would be to put it on a couple of discs rather than four. I doubt they're going to remaster it in high definition. I'm definitely going to pick up Back to the Future: The Animated Series but will either wait or pass on the new set.

I had the set on DVD, and again on Blu-ray. I don't think I need to rebuy this yet again :p

I just watched 2 and 3 on the current Blu-ray set. Looked and sounded great... The flux capacitor packaging is cool but not nearly enough for me to double dip.

Does the new set have the similar type of cardboard slipcase packaging with no plastic anywhere except the disc trays?

Re: Back to the Future -- 30th Anniversary Trilogy

I have never owned this set on any home media. I've always enjoyed the movies when they would come on TV and such, particularly the final sequence of Part 3, but I never pulled the trigger. Maybe if I find a great deal that big box set would be nice to have.

I'm pre-ordering this on Blu-ray. I only ever watched these on television and never actually got around to purchasing them despite being one of my favorite film franchises. I wanted to get them on Blu-ray but hated the cardboard packaging. This release looks to have better packaging and I love that I can get the animated series and the trilogy as part of the same set.

Re: Back to the Future -- 30th Anniversary Trilogy

Geez, and I just bought the 25th trilogy last week. I'm happy with the discs, I just wish it came in a thicker plastic "swing" case, not the cardboard tri-fold.

Curious if the digital HD means a code for iTunes or something else.

The first blu set is good enough for me. I'm only interested in the animated series.

I only have the DVD trilogy version. Remember that fiasco?

The framing issues with Part II, the good old days.

Re: Back to the Future -- 30th Anniversary Trilogy

So are they the same transfer as the last blu ray set?

And yes I remember framing issues. Damn do I feel old

Guaranteed to be a doorbuster on BF. Will wait.

Smells of a cashgrab. Probably won't be a re-encode, but just a repackaging. Definitely a pass for me. The current BDs look pretty good anyway.

I'm honestly just going to pick up the set because the packaging can't suck as much as the current set.

 The 25th anniversary packaging really does suck. I'm afraid I'm going to break the discs the times I've tried taking them out.

Plus it also includes the infamous digital copy coaster disc. which I hate.

I threw out the digital copies discs once I redeemed them due to that same, exact fear.

However, the packaging still sucks and its fucking huge despite no physical content for a set consisting of only three movies.

It's for people who don't already have the previous set. If you want only the tv show that's available separately.
