Re: Back to the Future -- 30th Anniversary Trilogy
The artwork sucks compared to the original set and another reason not to buy.

Geez, and I just bought the 25th trilogy last week. I'm happy with the discs, I just wish it came in a thicker plastic "swing" case, not the cardboard tri-fold.

I'm honestly just going to pick up the set because the packaging can't suck as much as the current set.

 The 25th anniversary packaging really does suck. I'm afraid I'm going to break the discs the times I've tried taking them out.

Re: Back to the Future -- 30th Anniversary Trilogy
I actually really like those individual steelbooks. Like the fact that they have the original poster art on them although I'd prefer if the background color was black rather than silver. The 30th Anniversary steelbook isn't bad either.

Re: Back to the Future -- 30th Anniversary Trilogy
Trilogy one looks awful to me, the individuals look good.

Michael J. Fox, Christopher Lloyd, and Lea Thompson, reunited at London Film and Comic Con. They participated in a panel, answering fan’s questions about the film. <iframe width="640" height="360" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/Hp82h-Lzd84?feature=player_embedded" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> |
Re: Back to the Future -- 30th Anniversary Trilogy
Damn Lea Thompson is still really attractive. Fox you can definitely tell has aged due to his Parkinson's but he looks decent and Lloyd looks good for his age too.
|
Re: Back to the Future -- 30th Anniversary Trilogy
They should reunite and re-film the scenes from part two that were set in 2015.
That would be an awesome special feature or alternate cut of the film. Just for fun, not to pull a Lucas and displace the original. |
Re: Back to the Future -- 30th Anniversary Trilogy
That 30th Anniversary panel interview was sort of sad to watch. You could tell Michael J Fox was having a really rough time. Christopher Lloyd was fine but I think he was having a hard time hearing the questions. Lea Thompson was good though.

crap. really like that steelbook!

Re: Back to the Future -- 30th Anniversary Trilogy
I might get that Steelbook to replace the crappy packaging set from a few years ago. I can give that set to a family member along with a class on how to get the discs out.

http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/...NL._SY445_.jpg Newly produced 92 minute feature length documentary called "Back in time" coming out October 21st. This is a separate release from the new 30th anniversary set. Here's the trailer <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/soWkvfhAZAs" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> The documentary film Back in Time is, at its heart, a look at the very real impact the Back to the Future movies have had on our culture. Funnily enough, the film’s genesis is a testament to how large that impact truly is. The project’s origins are humble: what started as an amusing addition to a Bar Mitzvah video, just happened to resonate and get stuck in director Jason Aron’s head. The Back to the Future trilogy had been a childhood inspiration which led to his career in film, and the idea of the De Lorean time machine wouldn’t leave his thoughts alone. Those thoughts blossomed into idea for a film which would delve into the impact of the iconic machine. A plan was drawn up, and a Kickstarter campaign was launched. Over 600 backers helped the team supplement the feature’s budget, and for the past couple of years that money has gone to help Back in Time become something so much more than anyone involved ever imagined that it could be. What was once a little idea that spawned a tightly-focused documentary has grown into something truly amazing over two years of filming. Instead of just a look at the eye-catching De Lorean, Back in Time is a cinematic monument to the vastness of the trilogy’s fandom. In addition to the footage and interviews revolving around the time machine itself, the crew found that simply by delving into the impact of the trilogy an epic journey began to unfold before them. Shooting in London, England during a Back to the Future event, hundreds of attendees in 1950’s attire were captured for the documentary as they reveled in their shared love of the films; the crew got to set feet upon one of the prophesied hoverboards during a shoot at Hendo Hoverboards; and trips all across America took them from brightly-lit time machine-filled garages to the sun-kissed homes of some truly unforgettable faces. The crew captured countless hours of footage during filming. From Robert Zemeckis and Bob Gale, to the Sheas and Hollers, and from James Tolkan and Lea Thompson to Christopher Lloyd and Michael J. Fox, Back in Time features interview after interview that simply must be seen. The scope of the impact of the Back to the Future trilogy is truly something to behold. Back in Time will premier in the fall of 2015 thanks in great part due to the support of a legion of fans. Digital and physical copies of the documentary will be made available after the premier, with precedence going to all those who backed the film’s Kickstarter campaigns. |

In for the Target Steelbook. Only have the dvd set at present, and don't have want or room for any more oversized deluxe packaging editions.

Back in Time I'll be getting for sure.

Re: Back to the Future -- 30th Anniversary Trilogy
Finished rewatching Back To The Future I. The movie has held up remarkably well after all these years. Even my daughter was impressed, she found it just as enjoyable as the first time she saw it.

Re: Back to the Future -- 30th Anniversary Trilogy
I've always wanted Steelbooks with the original poster art on them, and obviously the ones gerrythedon posted come very close, but the silver bars down the sides really put me off. Think I'll just stick with my original Blu-ray set for now.
|
I wonder if I should bother with this. The movies could look better, but the existing Blus look much nicer than I'd been told. Short of a new 4K master, I don't know if the new extras are worth it. Though at least they're selling it in a standard packaging, wish they would with Nolan's Batman trilogy, I don't need all the toys and stuff.

FYI
Apparently the Back in Time documentary will be on Netflix this Wednesday. |
Re: Back to the Future -- 30th Anniversary Trilogy
BTTF Vinyl comes out Wednesday. Or at least for the 30 people that order it at the right time.

Is that why everyone hates this packaging? My version of it came with the plastic trays that had the proper centre hubs in which the discs just pop on/off. Maybe I had the revised version of this pack? |
