ULTIMATE Die-Hard Limited Edition Set: Pre-order at SDCC!

Wow, and they've finally added the UNRATED cut of the fourth one on BD.

Is there a way to get it without that cumbersome package? I'd rather not get 5, by hey. I'm glad I didn't splurge on that Australian BR set now, at least

Hopefully they'll release the 4th one (with the unrated cut) as a standalone...

I'd buy it for $17.99 and not a penny more.

Yeah, I'd totally get it without big ass packaging. Just an extra think Amaray case with all five movies and the bonus disc would be fine by me.

Haven't checked the link yet. Did they remaster the first three movies?

Exactly what I was thinking. I love the Die Hard series but these strange collectible packages are the sets that always take up the most room, since you can't store them with your other discs.

Re: ULTIMATE Die-Hard Limited Edition Set: Pre-order at SDCC!

Die Hard was given a 4K remaster two years ago and new 2K masters of 2 & 3 were made around a similar time. I would hope Fox would utilize those in any new release, but this is also Fox we're talking about.

There's also new "collector's editions" of Home Alone and The Rocky Horror Picture Show coming around the same time. Nobody knows if those will include remasters or if they'll fix the audio glitch in Rocky Horror.

Good thing I never bought any of the Die Hard flicks. This I would get.

Re: ULTIMATE Die-Hard Limited Edition Set: Pre-order at SDCC!

I'm out. I bought the last collection that people here complained about (specifically the old masters) The bonus disc included here is the same as that collection. And I bought the shitty A Good Day to Die Hard for around $10

Not going to double dip just to get the Unrated BD of Life Free or Die Hard.

Re: ULTIMATE Die-Hard Limited Edition Set: Pre-order at SDCC!

I have the set with the first four films already and own A Good Day to Die Hard separately so I'll pass. I'm holding out that they'll eventually release the unrated cut of Live Free or Die Hard either separately or bundled with the theatrical cut.

Fancy new packaging...same old discs (more or less). We've seen this movie before.

I know we all like to roll our eyes at the nutters on bluray.com who take 50 pages to complain about the image quality of certain blu ray releases, but I am actually waiting for them (and folks on this site) to confirm if indeed the first Die Hard is a remaster, because if it is...well, it is my all-time favorite film, so a remaster of Die Hard would be the only excuse I need to pick this sucker up.

Pretty much this for me. I have the four-film set and no desire to ever watch the fifth film again, and it sounds like the Unrated cut of #4 isn't all that different anyway....

...except for this. I would double-dip for a better picture on Die Hard.

I like the look of this set but don't want to have to store it anywhere.

It needs a drawer of little plastic accessories with pegs that you can stick on it, like a Mr. Potato head. Maybe an exploding helicopter, a miniature Bruce on a firehose, a mini falling Hans, little random hostages on the roof, a police cruiser with a corpse in the windshield, that tank thingy on the front steps, some front steps to put the tank thingy on. Otherwise, it's just an architectural model better suited as a gift for execs who work at Fox Plaza.

If there are remasters involved, I would expect them to be released without the dumb building model eventually. I'll wait.

Tough to imagine a playset for Die Hard 3, though. Or 4 or 5, for that matter . . . Maybe each could come with those roll-out mats with the roads and buildings printed on them in bright colours, along with a fancy case full of die cast cars and trucks, plus some plastic rubble.

Re: ULTIMATE Die-Hard Limited Edition Set: Pre-order at SDCC!

I would walk on broken glass to get to this set....errr...lets put it this way, I still have the 1-3 Fox Five Star DVD Box Set along with the uncut DVD of the 4th one. (Not impressed enough with the fifth one to own) These are some of the lastttttt big movie dvds I have, so I'm hoping that this set is finally the one needing to upgrade. But with that said, I would also like a smaller version with just the discs and a "normalish" display. Here is hoping.

They could do one for 2, with a jet full of terrified doomed little people.

Wouldn't mind seeing the unrated cut of 4, but don't plan on buying the set in order to do so.

The Unrated cut is already on the 2-disc LFODH DVD set. I already own that set.

People here have been begging for a hi-def release of it.

Re: ULTIMATE Die-Hard Limited Edition Set: Pre-order at SDCC!

The unrated version of the fourth film is a joke(and the fifth film is even worse!). So it's nothing to get to excited over. I'll stick with the theatrical version of the fourth film. Now, if this includes remasters of the first three films. Then I'd definitely want to pick this up, in regular packaging. I'd prefer not to own the fifth movie, but if I have to as part of a set, so be it. That was easily the worst film of the series.
