Hoping for remasters!

This was released two weeks ago and I'm surprised no one has discussed it since July. So I take it these aren't remasters?

Nope, the only new thing is the unrated version for Live Free or Die Hard. Kinda shitty this set is the only way to get it.

Apparently there was an omission of a minor featurette from the previous relese of 4. Is there a way to get this without the cumbersome packaging? There was an Australian release a while back which had the unrated cut of 4.

If they remaster 1 and 3 and don't fuck it up, I'll buy them separately for $8.99 each.

I finally added the original DVD Trilogy to my "donate" pile, meaning I'm hoping to upgrade to Blu-ray... eventually.
I think remasters would do it for me, although I only really want the first three films. I'll take 4 and 5 if the bundle is cheap enough, though.

Will include the Unrated and Theatrical Cuts of Live Free or Die Hard and A Good Day to Die Hard

Coming February 7th. Guessing this is essentially the same thing again as the Nakatome set, just without the big bulky package.

^ I might actually pick this one up since it's got the unrated cut of Live Free or Die Hard. I couldn't care less about the unrated cut of A Good Day to Die Hard. That POS can't be fixed, unrated or not.

The original Die Hard is one of my favorite movies and I enjoy all the sequels (minus The last one) to varying degrees. The last time I bought the series was the 5 star collection DVD set so it's probably time for an upgrade.

Only way I would upgrade is if the original 3 received improved transfers since I already have the prior set. I also agree with many that have posted that the unrated version of 4 is actually wince inducing since the additions were done very poorly. Bummed we have to deal with a PG13 cut, but it's better than the fake R rated cut.

On a different note, watch this this new set not have the "new" features from that prior set (which I why I went for it, old transfers and all). Fox - new box set, less features.

We'll get this set in February and probably a 4K set at some point next year. But yeah, I have the old set and not interested in double dipping just to get the unrated version of Live Free or Die Hard.

I'm banking on the 4K releases. And if they don't, I'm not dying to pick these up again, unless the picture and sound are improved. I'm one of the few who could care less about getting the R-Rated cuts.

One would think they would have to update the first 4 transfers to do 4K releases. Which means I could be upgrading after all if the new BD releases will use the same new transfer.

I got Die Hard unrated from Germany a while back so this is an easy pass unless they do new transfers.

They should produce a variant package with a bald Bruce Willis.

So, just FYI, you can use VUDU D2D (or Free2D) and it allows you to get Live Free or Die Hard Unrated for $2 (or $1 if you're ordering 10 or more movies).

I haven't upgraded these yet. If this gets in the $15-20 range I'll pick it up. Would prefer if they were remastered.

Just a heads up, the new box set DOES NOT include the unrated version of Live Free or Die Hard. I saw the set drop to $20.96 on Amazon today and thought about picking it up since it includes the digital copies as well, but it's currently getting slammed on Amazon with one star reviews all saying that it doesn't include that version. I'm not sure how Fox managed to fuck this one up, especially since it's advertised right on front of the box.

I read somewhere that some of the sets do include the Unrated cut. And for those sets that have only the Rated R version, those can be sent replacements with the corrected disc.

I went on Vudu to see what the Redemption Bundle included (to see if strictly digital alone was worth it)....but all those are Theatrical cuts. So they didn't even do it right that way. So for the umpteenth time with Blu-Rays for Diehard, I'm sticking with my old DVDs. (5-Star DVD Set for First three and Unrated Cut for the 4th...I ignore the 5th but have seen it)

Maybe they'll get it right by the 4k cuts.

Seems like a sneaky way to unload old stock by assuming -- probably correctly -- that a lot of less-informed buyers won't go through the trouble of obtaining the replacement disc.
