No one is getting Paul Thomas Anderson's latest flick, Inherent Vice? It adapts a Thomas Pynchon novel. The film was made with an eye as Oscar bait, it wanders all over the map too much for that consideration.

White Buffalo is something I've been wanting to see for years now, but I'm close to the limit of my budget for the first six months of the year so it will have to wait a bit.

Inherent Vice - it gets better with repeated viewings, and one of those flicks that cool to have on in the background as I make dinner, wash dishes, etc.

I'll only be getting Inherent Vice this week.

I assume mixed feelings on Inherent Vice. I am a big Phoenix fan plus Reese and Josh Brolin are in it and it is tempting.

Maybe get it for the cover which I might also do for the American Sniper if it has Cooper with the US flag as the art.

Yikes, it didn't even make the poll. I am an enormous PT Anderson fan, but I have to admit I was bored and frustrated with this movie. It felt like the Coen brothers at their quirky worst and twice as long. I would consider giving it another chance and picking it up, though it looks like it really has no extra features (PTA used to put out great packages like Boogie Nights, that had 2 commentaries, and Magnolia with that huge set video diary), but he seems bored with the home market. They still haven't even put Punch-Drunk Love on bluray. What happened, PTA?? What happened???

Inherent Vice is one of the first Paul Thomas Anderson films I felt he was cribbing from other directors.

Sure, there's a little cribbing in IV, but not nearly as much cribbing from Scorsese in Boogie Nights, or from Altman in Magnolia.

I will get the Gambler from Netflix but I can't look at the Blu-ray and be tempted to buy it. I need to control my urges
