Oh man, those eyes. It's like Saitama from One Punch Man cosplaying as Raven. And is she waving?

We didn't receive a screener but I would say if I published a review, the logline would be: "Solid animation and a hopefully ending can't make up for stiff dialogue, shallow thematic exploration, and an excessively violent and nihilistic affair whose sophomoric writing is all style, no substance."

If you’re any kind of Mortal Kombat fan, either past or present, you got to see Scorpion’s Revenge. It’s an MK fans wet dream and even if not great, funny, brutal movie. It pays such great homage to game it’s as if this is a true companion piece. Just great stuff.

I want to see that, but it doesn’t really have anything to do with DC..

Re: DC Animated Universe Films

I thought it had something to do with DC Comics for some reason. I know they made the vs game with DC superheroes, but I thought I also saw logo attached to this movie in beginning along with WB. Maybe not...

Re: DC Animated Universe Films

I had forgotten to preorder the Steelbook of this Justice League Dark release, and they weren't having online orders or curbside pick up, so I ventured into a Target for the first time in 3 months on Tuesday. They had 5 copies available, so I bought one. Hope to watch this weekend.

It wasn't available online, but now it is

I placed in store pickup at Target for tomorrow. This got a good review at Blu-ray.com. Looking forward to the movie and a few of those extras. Wish they’d have DC Universe extras on Vudu digital.

Re: DC Animated Universe Films

And Blu-ray.com says all 15 animated are interlinked. What are they including, just ones that start with Justice League bc I didn’t think that many? And it can’t be stuff like Wonder Woman or Red Son...

**edit** so I guess this mostly includes the Justice League titles, some Batman, WW: Bloodlines. But how are they all interlinked, especially Bloodlines or some of the Batman animated?

01. Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox
02. Justice League: War (2014)
03. Son of Batman (2014)
04. Justice League: Throne of Atlantis (2015)
05. Batman vs. Robin (2015)
06. Batman: Bad Blood (2016)
07. Justice League vs. Teen Titans (2016)
08. Justice League Dark (2017)
09. Teen Titans: The Judas Contract (2017)
10. Suicide Squad: Hell to Pay (2018)
11. The Death of Superman (2018)
12. Reign of the Supermen (2019)
13: Batman: Hush (2019)
14: Wonder Woman: Bloodlines (2019)
15: Justice League Dark: Apokolips War (2020)

Suppose to be of the same continuity at least and were announced under the DCAMU line.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DC_Ani...Movie_Universe

Also while Constantine: City of Demons: The Movie (2018) isn't stated as part of this line-up, it was confirmed to be in the continuity of Justice League Dark and thus listed under "extended setting" on the Wikipedia.

DC will be starting a new continuity with the next film Superman: Man of Tomorrow (2020).

Re: DC Animated Universe Films

A fitting end to the debacle that was the New 52. The movie took me by surprise cause I thought I was going to see the adaptation of the Darkseid War but instead it became something new. I feel that the over the top violence and cussing was made to fit the idea of what the New 52 was supposed to be but I'm truly not totally against it. Marvel did something very similar back in the 2000's with their Lionsgate animated films deal but the difference is that at least the characters in these films resembled the ones we saw in the Marvel books. The whole thing about the New 52 is that many of the characters acted in complete opposite of their 70+ year history at the time. This Apokolips War film in particular made a point in that as this version of Superman was completely reckless and vengeful, something that he ain't in the comics. Same with Flash, but this has happened since Barry Allen was brought back. To me, he has become the biggest villain in the DC Universe, which I don't think was done on purpose at DC. I mean, both in these films and comics, his selfishness is what basically ruined the DC timeline, no matter how much they try to blame Dr. Manhattan for it.

I hope the Man of Tomorrow film is the start of the Rebirth storyline. I wished they had done something akin to the DC Rebirth Special as a film.

Re: DC Animated Universe Films

Just caught up and watched Red Son. The movie is okay but it lost some from the source material. It wasn't bad by any means but I went to IMDB to see the rating and what other people thought about it and saw that a lot of jackasses comigaters review bombed the movie. Man, toxic fandom sucks.

Do I get the Steelbook or the 4K version? I've found the 4K versions tend to clean up the terrible banding that often afflicts these animated DC movies.

Superman: Red Son is pretty good for what it is - a very different Elseworlds tale far removed from normal continuity. My only serious complaint about the movie was its handling of Lois Lane. I just don't get why so many Elseworlds put Lois and Lex together.

Well the regular Blurays are 8-bit AVC while UHD Blurays are 10-bit HEVC. The higher color depth helps prevent the creation of visible banding in the gradients when compressing the video for the discs.

Re: DC Animated Universe Films

Since when has Lex Luther been a part of the Justice League? I will say while I’m liking the movie, Apokolips War, I’m not loving the voice actors. O’Mara good for Batman (know he’s played before), do like Dawson as Wonder Woman (not sure if before), Jerry O’Connell unrecognizable as Superman (which I too know he’s done before). But I had no idea Darkseid was voiced by Tony Todd. Doesn’t sound like him at all and I’m usually so good at picking out popular voice actors or any actor who does voice over work (in cartoons or tv ads, narrations, etc.) really, he’s not menacing at all to me and I think weakest of voice actors and I love Todd’s voice!

In the comic, Luthor became a Justice Leaguer in the aftermath of Forever Evil, as he helped the world get rid of the Crime Syndicate. In this series of films, Luthor became a Leaguer after helping the team in the fight against Cyborg Superman in the Reign of Supermen film. In the post credit scene, he offers his help in fighting Darkseid.

Tony Todd has been voicing Darkseid for a couple different DC movies.

just doesn't sound as menacing as what i think should be and really doesn't sound like him at all bc he has such a distinct, almost iconic voice...

Michael Ironside voiced Darkseid perfectly, so I can see why Tony Todd's voice doesn't feel as spectacular as that one.

Re: DC Animated Universe Films

Wow. I just saw Death of Superman (2nd time) and Reign of Superman (1st) to prep in continuation of AW. While Death was ok, it really had no story whatsoever. The entire movie was just one big fight with Doomsday and the end result of course. Sure, there was a little sentiment with the Clark and Lois scenes, but it was just one big fight. Now, Reign was something totally different and so much better. That had story, humor, action, sentiment. I loved it. It has become my 2nd favorite DC animated after Wonder Woman (2009). Reign was flat out great. Suspense, tense, everything you can get out of an animated superhero movie. Now, look very forward to JLD: AW. But, which DC animated film showed what happened to Justice League, especially Batman coming under control of Darkseid? I know the beginning showed some of what happens to Supes, but what about rest? Either way looking forward to concluding this saga and what seems to really be a trilogy. Good stuff.

Do you want to see your favorite heroes pointlessly maimed, mutilated, and murdered (which I'll spoiler below)? Enjoy horrible dialogue with mostly stilted delivery? Do you confuse "adult" with "mature"? Do you love extensive use of fart rock on your soundtracks and a multitude of cliched jokes? Then this is the movie for you!

The whole thing feels like it was concocted by a highschooler who just read Uber and was like "Yeah, let's do that, but with characters that are heroes to children". It is infuriatingly bad.
I just got this in the mail today as part of Target's buy-two-get-one-free sale, and...uh, I'm glad I didn't pay full price. The only good thing I can really say about it is that at least this run of movies is over. Even the Adam Strange short was joyless dismemberment-porn.
