Matt Ryan as he did on the live action CONSTANTINE series does a solid job voicing John on JLDARK.

I'm more of a Jameson guy myself, but I hope it works out for you.

 So...story time, because I swear I always have these...I could write a book. "The Adventures of buying DC Steelbooks in Target on Release Week" Anyway, go to the one on the 8600 block of Westheimer (they still have one there when I left at 12:15pm). I had checked Brickseek beforehand and they supposedly had two copies in stock. Get there, look at the display and they had no steelbooks. Same as the one on Fry Rd in Katy, about three of the regular bluray, one of the deluxe and plenty of the dvd. I'm thinking, that's just not right. I check Brickseek again, still showed 2 copies and I check the Katy out of curiosity and it says zero like it should. Looked around the display, and even on the back endcap, nope...nothing. So I walked up to customer service, nobody around. Perturbed, because it's not there and I need to get back to work. I walked back one final time and there was a guy there stocking discs. Alright, getting somewhere. I go up to him and mentioned about the steelbook and then showed him in Brickseek where there are two copies. He scratched his head, and said, "Well they should be here, let me go check." So he walked away, which can lead to them never coming back or taking twenty minutes to find nothing. Less than five minutes later, he comes back with the two in his hands. I asked, "Where were they?" He goes, "In the back, under a few things like somebody might have been keeping them or something." He actually handed me both. Now, since I'm a good guy (and not a dick reseller) I took one, put in the display and took the other one for myself to go pay. I also cashed in my Target perk so actually I didn't pay a dime. So, that ended well, and now I just need to figure out if I go ahead and cancel my order at Target.com. I'll probably cancel, no sense in letting that stay there. So, thanks again, appreciate the help from everybody. |

Edit: But wait...there's more. So I get on online chat to cancel my online order. And they type everything in and they tell me they can't cancel the order! Okay...why? Because it shipped. WHAT...today in fact. LOL. So it went from Backorder March to shipping today. They gave me the tracking number, it's not active yet, but I'll check it tomorrow. So assuming that's correct, I will have an extra copy. I'll let you folks know if I do end up getting it. I can return it but I'll make sure all of you folks have it first (that want it anyway). |
Re: DC Animated Universe Films
I ended up liking Justice League Dark a great deal. I'm a big Zatanna and Deadman fan. The plot felt to me like a potential pitch for the proposed Justice League Dark live-action movie. It's one of the better DCU movies we've gotten of late.
Batman is kind of useless in it except for one smart part where he disarms Green Lantern by himself. He's only in it to boost sales. |
Re: DC Animated Universe Films
Justice League Dark...awesome movie. Really well done and good action. Simple story. Good voice acting. Better one in a long time.

Re: DC Animated Universe Films
Anyone else having issues redeeming the digital code? I'm getting a "sorry, we're having trouble validating this code. Please try again later."
|
Re: DC Animated Universe Films
Nope. Sorry. I actually watched on Vudu.

As it turns out, the tracking I received yesterday was legit and its heading to Katy. *sigh*, guess I hedged my bets a little too well. By any crazy idea...is anybody willing to trade away their steelbooks of Justice League War or Throne of Atlantis for JLD? Doesn't need to have the digital code or anything, just the discs and the steelbook. (and you'll get everything naturally with JLD)...just curious. EDIT: Nope Red, the code worked just fine for me. It went automatically to MyUV and then I redeemed it through Vudu, no issues. Sometimes from personal experience, waiting does work and sometimes if you do it 3 or 4 times in a row it works too. Just be careful with the later and make sure you log into MyUV (some people don't and just proceed to Vudu/CNOW/Flixster). Hope it goes through. |
Re: DC Animated Universe Films
Apparently there were some issues with the site last night but it worked today. Thanks Kedrix for the tip.

Re: DC Animated Universe Films
I almost was going to consider filling in the gaps in my Target Steelbook collection for these but damn are they pricey. Not worth paying at least double or more for most of them. Especially considering that I have the regular releases of them all anyways.

Re: DC Animated Universe Films
A couple of the DC steelbooks were nearly impossible to get even on release day. The past couple have had better distribution.
That internet pre-order did come through for me on Justice League Dark's steelbook. It arrived in mint condition. |

Re: DC Animated Universe Films
Jason O'Mara just has no presence as Batman at all. Seeing the magical squad of the DCU was cool even if it was a blatant attempt to cash in on Dr. Strange, but again, Batman always has to be hanging around, and if almost feels like they're the guests in his movie. Some nice animation, but as with most of these DCU products, they're nowhere near par with the DCAU, and feel a little second-string.
Why was this rated R? Excepting the one S-bomb, even the language was pretty tame. Constantine stole the show. How was Black Orchid alive? Alan Moore still refuses credit, I see. |
Re: DC Animated Universe Films
Welp, got my second copy of Justice League Dark steelbook in the mail last night...I'm awfully glad I went through to go to Target in person to get the first copy instead of pinning my hopes on the mail copy. The steelbook was fine, but it was a floater for at least one disc. So, needless to say I'll be returning that one to my local target. Let somebody else deal with that sucker.

Re: DC Animated Universe Films
Wasn't sure where to post this but there apparently is going to be a Director's Cut of the animated movie and will be rated R for some violence.
http://www.filmratings.com/downloads...g_bulletin.pdf When someone first posted, there was a thought it would be for the live action version, but the notation "NOTE: EDITED VERSION. CONTENT IS DIFFERENT FROM "PG-13" RATED VERSION, BULLETIN NO. 2051 (1/7/2009)" makes it most probable its the animated one. |
Re: DC Animated Universe Films
It was one of the better films, so it's logical for them to try and get it out there again with the live action movie coming. And unlike them putting Arkham back out there with just new cover art, it seems they may be adding a few minutes to the movie.

Re: DC Animated Universe Films
I own it but that's actually one of the animated features I haven't gotten around to watching. Curious what would make it R rated.
