So what's your buy price point for the Batman TV HD series?
I really want the pre order the Batman Complete Television Series but I think I am going to have to hold off for $125 or so.
What is the best price now? |
Re: So what's your buy price point for the Batman TV HD series?
Well it is a limited edition, so if it sells out, you may be waiting a long time.
|
Re: So what's your buy price point for the Batman TV HD series?
Waiting for a set that only has the BD discs. And then only when if it starts hitting BF like sale prices.

The BD set also had DVD included? So once the first batch sells out due to the LE, it will be awhile before the second shipments are out?? |

Same. I don't need the fancy packaging or extra crap I'll only leaf through once and never bother with again.

Re: So what's your buy price point for the Batman TV HD series?
I still say that all things considered in how much of a hassle it was to put this show out at all to begin with the price is more than fair. Considering that its the entire series and under $200 I'm honestly way more than satisfied. My only gripe is that it sounds like the set is a bit lacking in the extra features department but as long as the episodes are presented in good quality I'm happy with the set we're getting.

Re: So what's your buy price point for the Batman TV HD series?
Same as anything, $15 per season is my max.

Don't buy the limited edition marketing spiel, that is a load. All indicators point to this set having been designed for easy reconfiguration into individual season releases, after they sell through the big sets.
If you are willing to wait two years after release, it will be significantly cheaper. |

Good luck with that. Maybe years down the road used.

For a second there I thought this thread was about Batman The Animated Series on Blu-ray. Got a little excited, and then disappointed.

Re: So what's your buy price point for the Batman TV HD series?
Probably $100 for me.
|
Re: So what's your buy price point for the Batman TV HD series?
I can't believe how many are waiting for it to get cheap. I don't care the price, this was a very long long wait to get released on dvd, and it took so long we are getting it in blu. This is worth the money to me.
|
Re: So what's your buy price point for the Batman TV HD series?
I'll even be getting some cash back from all of the rebates that I stacked up on it.
|
Re: So what's your buy price point for the Batman TV HD series?
Although I watched it as a kid, I really have no desire to own this set. It would be fun to check out a couple episodes though. I can remember a few of them. I remember the pilot to Green Hornet very well. Also remember the Batgirl episodes.

Agreed. I find it odd that the series spent a bunch of time as the most requested title to be released on TVShowsonDVD and not to mention fans clamoring for it other places both online and offline but now its finally hitting and a bunch of people either seem indifferent or want it but only if its dirt cheap.

Dirt Cheap? No. Just not at the price they are asking for now. Especially when it includes junk many don't want. I suspect those saying no for now would buy it if it was a little cheaper and didn't include anything but the discs.

They aren't throwing a bunch of crap in the set just to pad the price. There's a replica of the Batmobile which probably doesn't cost much (I'm sure its just a HotbWheels or something similar).

Yes, crap. I suspect I'm not alone in having no interest in the tiny Hot Wheels like car and the other valueless stuff they have added to the box.

I suspect it will take less than a year to drop in price. Next BF at the latest. And if they're smart, they'll release disc only sets long before that.

If you don't want the car fine but that's the only thing added to the set. Like I said I doubt that's adding too much cost to the set.
But bottom line - many are waiting for disc only sets and a more reasonable price. |

Scrapbook? Trading cards? And given the way the promotion material reads, I believe they are expecting people to think for of the extras than you think.

Re: So what's your buy price point for the Batman TV HD series?
I actually think the limited edition set is priced rather fairly given the swag. I was expecting a list price closer to $400. The lower list price suggests this will hit the sweet spot of $100 pretty soon.
I have no problem paying $180 for this set on day one. I just hope they did justice to the film transfers. |

Re: So what's your buy price point for the Batman TV HD series?
Since the altered (unfortunate darkened) color timing was announced, I've cancelled my preorder until I read the reviews... If it is darkened to oblivion, I'll not be buying the set at all. If it is acceptable, my price point will be $150. I would gladly have paid $250+ if the original, as broadcasted, brighter colors would have been used without the needless 'reimagining'!
|
I'll try contain my shock that the color-timing has been altered. Why must this new phenomenon exist?
|

$75. No superfluous stuff. The BDs are all I want or need.

Re: So what's your buy price point for the Batman TV HD series?
From what I read, the darker color timing is the original look of the series. It was later brightened when the show hit syndication. So the "reimagining" is the brighter version rather than the BD. |
Re: So what's your buy price point for the Batman TV HD series?
Right now, Amazon lists the DVD set at $135. I may end up going that route unless the BD set hits that price or lower before I pull the trigger. I just don't have the room any more for fancy packaging and am not interested in the cards or car. And as glorious as Julie Newmar's spandex-covered ass might be in HD, standard definition suits my old eyes just fine.
|
Re: So what's your buy price point for the Batman TV HD series?
135 bucks... for a DVD set. In 2014? Fuck that. Ain't no DVD set that has a BD counterpart, at the same time, worth that much.
|
Re: So what's your buy price point for the Batman TV HD series?
50 cents.

I ended up ordering it from WB Shop with a coupon for about $150. Don't recall if that includes tax or not. I was satisfied...but I think there will be a better deal to be had before the end of this year. B&N, WB Shop, DD, DVD Planet- someone will have a good post release price and then a coupon will be available that will knock it down further under $150.

Just thinking about the costumes on Newmar and Craig, they're made of some kind of glittery, pearlescent fabric. Don't know if that alone is worth the $25+ premium for Bd, but I'm curious to see just how brilliant those sparkle in higher res. |
