Paper stuff isn't that expensive either. That kind of stuff is fairly standard to these types of sets. My guess is all that stuff adds maybe $20 tops to the set. Most of that cost is probably the car.

I actually think the limited edition set is priced rather fairly given the swag. I was expecting a list price closer to $400. The lower list price suggests this will hit the sweet spot of $100 pretty soon.
I have no problem paying $180 for this set on day one. I just hope they did justice to the film transfers.

Since the altered (unfortunate darkened) color timing was announced, I've cancelled my preorder until I read the reviews... If it is darkened to oblivion, I'll not be buying the set at all. If it is acceptable, my price point will be $150. I would gladly have paid $250+ if the original, as broadcasted, brighter colors would have been used without the needless 'reimagining'!

Agreed. I find it odd that the series spent a bunch of time as the most requested title to be released on TVShowsonDVD and not to mention fans clamoring for it other places both online and offline but now its finally hitting and a bunch of people either seem indifferent or want it but only if its dirt cheap.e

From what I read, the darker color timing is the original look of the series. It was later brightened when the show hit syndication. So the "reimagining" is the brighter version rather than the BD.

Right now, Amazon lists the DVD set at $135. I may end up going that route unless the BD set hits that price or lower before I pull the trigger. I just don't have the room any more for fancy packaging and am not interested in the cards or car. And as glorious as Julie Newmar's spandex-covered ass might be in HD, standard definition suits my old eyes just fine.

135 bucks... for a DVD set. In 2014? Fuck that. Ain't no DVD set that has a BD counterpart, at the same time, worth that much.

So my initial buy price point was anything under $200. I ended up ordering it from WB Shop with a coupon for about $150. Don't recall if that includes tax or not. I was satisfied...but I think there will be a better deal to be had before the end of this year. B&N, WB Shop, DD, DVD Planet- someone will have a good post release price and then a coupon will be available that will knock it down further under $150.

Just thinking about the costumes on Newmar and Craig, they're made of some kind of glittery, pearlescent fabric. Don't know if that alone is worth the $25+ premium for Bd, but I'm curious to see just how brilliant those sparkle in higher res.

The cheapest source now is the German version of the set, dropping all the swag items. Amazon Germany is selling it for something like a little over $100.

Eventually, after the stripped down Bd set has been released and already had at least one price drop, I'll sell off the (by then hopefully sold out) limited set and buy the stripped down version. If I can do a 1:1 trade I'll be happy to have it in a more shelf friendly form...and then someone else can enjoy the swag at a reduced price.
Till then it gets tossed in the closet and the digipacks go on the shelf

To paraphrase a contemporary of the Batman, having a thing is not as pleasing as wanting; that being said, I'm only interested in owning the discs, so 125 or so sounds reasonable to me.

But if you wait the boxes and the packaging will be nicked up and have dents and edge and corner wear.
Is this the disc only set ($160+?) since the collectible set with the car is still on the market?

Warner has released this set in several different configurations overseas. If you don't care about the swag and oversized box, the Italian set supposedly comes with an English episode guide for under $70.
