Re: Alien: 35th Anniversary Edition -- 10/7/14
Jesus. I hated the way the old DVD set was. Damn thing was annoying to unfold. How many DVDs was it again?
|
The first time I did it, I thought it was really cool. The next 56, not so much. I want to sell it, but I like having a copy of the second movie with unfucked color timing.

Re: Alien: 35th Anniversary Edition -- 10/7/14
I still enjoyed the artwork that made up the Quad set even thought I agree the unfolding would not be missed. And it's not just this set. I look at my collection and I much prefer the fold out digipaks with their respective artwork over the normal case with trays. Many of those old digipaks got replaced over time with tray filled black cases.
I also don't mind the book style packaging, agin because of the artwork, but getting the disc out can be more of a pain than folding digipaks. |

Well this version came out. Anything new with this reissue or is everything already in Anthology?

I thought it was just a reissue? No. Yes?
|
I saw at least the first two films and possibly all four reissued at my local B&N with UV codes.

Apparently some companies don't know how to sucker a fan into multiple purchases.
You put out the special edition of the single movie FIRST. THEN comes the box set. Halloween and The Exorcist are laughing at you Alien. |

Walmart is carrying this for $9.96. It's with their new $9.96 section of catalog titles.

I believe it is the exact same disc that was previously released in the Anthology set, along with a mini reprint of the Heavy Metal comic book adaption of the movie and eight H. R. Giger art cards.

For ten bucks I might grab this just for the art cards and mini graphic novel.
I already have the big, expensive black and white artist edition of the graphic novel, but I don't have the regular color edition. |
