Look up a few posts, lol. I did see a 35th anniversary screening a few months ago at the Cinerama. It was the theatrical cut, looked perfect to my eyes, but I don't know if it was a new print or not, could've been. And I really couldn't say what the colors looked like compared to the current blu-ray. It's possible this could be a new transfer, but probably unlikely. I dig the cover art though.

The cover art is shit. Hey guys, lets make it a circle like the Alien 3 1-sheet.
Should have just used the egg, or the "word of warning" teaser art.

Bluray.com shows the Alien Quadrilogy set hitting blu-ray on the same day (October 7). Is this just the Anthology set updated to include the new 35th Anniversary Edition of Alien? Or is there a chance that Fox might have fixed the color timing issues on the first two films and added even more special features?

If the color timing matches 1979 prints I'll wait till it's $10 or less, buy it, and then put the disc in the Alien set.

Each film is getting re-released with a Digital HD code. The Quad set might just be a repackaging in a standard case and Digital HD codes. Walmart's pre-order listing for Alien:
This "Alien 35th Anniversary Limited-Edition Set" includes both the theatrical version and director's cut on Blu-ray, along with audio commentaries, deleted scenes and more - PLUS - a reprint of the original "Alien" illustrated comic and all-new, collectible art cards as a tribute to the late H.R. Giger, creator of the iconic movie monster that started it all.

Damn. Well I'm damn not bit buying it again for UV codes, especially when I can just pick them up on eBay or something anyway. I wish I the Quadrilogy had individual cases so that I could keep the second with proper color timing and sell the others.

As grossly tealified as they may be, the transfers for both Alien and Aliens were director approved, and neither one is as controversial as The French Connection (where the movie's DP publicly berated the director for what he did to the movie).
There is zero chance that these discs will be any different than the existing Blu-ray transfers. This is just a repackaging and reissue.

Anyway, when people have both the BD and Quad DVD of Aliens as an example, would you really ever watch the DVD over the BD for the whole movie just because of the color? Or is it to just have around should you want to compare?
I orginally kept my Quad set around because of the color issues. But now reality is setting in and I can't really ever see me watching the whole movie on DVD just for the colors. Now I just need to find somebody willing to give me something for the Quad set.

Glad I don't give a shit because no one really knows what the "color timing" is supposed to be anyway. The box set is good enough.

Ever since the the color issue with "Thief" was proven to be blown out of proportion because of screencaps, my attitude with Alien is that it looks great on my set up and the issue IMO is silly.

Aliens is a bigger deal than Alien to me. There are only 2 scenes in Alien I know are wrong for sure, Aliens the whole damn thing is wrong.

I can live with the amount of teal-and-orange inflicted on Alien, but Aliens has been really disgustingly smothered in teal. From the point the marines land on LV-426 forward, the movie has practically no other colors at all beyond teal with occasional bits of orange. Everything is teal, everywhere you look.

I hear that. The people going on about the colors on that one have a lot of explaining to do IMO, but so far there has only been *crickets*. To the point where they should lose a lot of credibility when it comes to reviewing discs.
