Re: Transformers: Age of Extinction (Best Buy Exclusive) SteelBook

The 3D IMAX version got really good reviews

"Transformers: Age of Extinction isn't a whole new movie in 3D, but it plays better. The 3D presentation is spectacular, and mixed with a whole lot of 1.78:1 IMAX footage, the movie just seems to tower. Even on smaller displays -- the 3D review display, for example, clocks in at a mere 50" -- the movie experience absolutely rocks in its bigger format. The blend of scope ands depth is truly something to behold, and this might very well be the best example of 3D IMAX available on Blu-ray."

I guess the IMAX version is on the 3D disc only. But even if you don't have a 3D TV and throw in the 3D disc, it will still play, right? I think that's the only way you can watch the IMAX version.

I believe NO, not on this release.

Well that will be extremely disappointing if you can only watch the IMAX version in 3D.

Based on those screenshots, the 2D release is not in IMAX. You're only bet is if you have a 3D TV and a 3D capable BD player and have your 3D TV convert the image to 2D (which really means it only displays one "eye").

I almost pre-ordered the steelbook. Glad I didn't. I want this 3D release.

For some reason parts of this movie the pic was very grainy. I will have to try it on another tv/player to see if maybe something was wrong in my connection. I dont understand why it was so off/on in pic quality.

I like the look of the Steelbook, but that IMAX 3D was too hard to pass up.

It seems that, much like the third movie, this one was a mixture of film and digital.

Sigh. If Bay still shoots anything on film, I suppose I must begrudgingly respect that . Wasn't it a mix of formats? Some digital, some film, some IMAX, and weren't there a few shots which were done with inexpensive consumer cameras or something?

Xage's back!

Okay, so now you have to watch T4 as many times as the number of copies you own, all in a row.
I expect your brain to turn to mush less than halfway through.

Much like that Courtney Stodden chick (until there's a thread bump), I actually forgot all about xage.

Apparently 60% of the movie was shot in IMAX 3D.

Is 60% of the 3D version really in IMAX? If so, that's a shame they didn't put that on the 2D version.

Re: Transformers: Age of Extinction (Best Buy Exclusive) SteelBook

So my IMAX 3D copy of TRANSFORMERS; AGE OF EXTINCTION arrived from Amazon today. For some mysterious reason, the lenticular slipcover was slathered in some sort of perfumed grease.

Keep it. The disc plays fine (though the 3D disc is the thinnest, flimsiest Blu-ray disc I have ever held). It's just some lotion that was smeared on the lenticular side of the slipcover. Simply weird, is all.
