The Sopranos: The Complete Series - 11/04/2014

From blu-ray.com:

HBO Home Entertainment has officially announced the Blu-ray release of The Sopranos: The Complete Series. All 86 episodes of the award winning show will be placed on 28 Blu-ray discs, which will be grouped in a lavish box set featuring iconic artwork from the series. The Sopranos: The Complete Series arrives on Blu-ray on November 4th.

Synopsis: For six seasons, millions of viewers loyally tuned in to HBO to watch the drama unfold as modern-day mob boss Tony Soprano juggled responsibilities between his family and his other "family." Hailed as "a remarkable achievement" by the Wall Street Journal and "the greatest show in TV history" by Vanity Fair, David Chase's drama stars three-time Emmy winners James Gandolfini as Tony Soprano and Edie Falco as Tony's wife Carmela, plus Lorraine Bracco as therapist Dr. Jennifer Melfi, Emmy winner Michael Imperioli as Tony's nephew Christopher Moltisanti and Dominic Chianese as Uncle Junior. Other series regulars include Robert Iler as Anthony Soprano, Jr., Jamie-Lynn Sigler as Meadow Soprano, Tony Sirico as Paulie Walnuts, Steven Van Zandt as Silvio Dante, Aida Turturro as Tony's sister Janice, Steven R. Schirripa as Bobby "Bacala" Baccalieri, John Ventimiglia as Artie Bucco, Vincent Curatola as Johnny Sack, Frank Vincent as Phil Leotardo and Ray Abruzzo as Little Carmine.

When The Sopranos debuted in 1999, its story of a modern-day mob boss juggling responsibilities between his family and his other "family" was like nothing that TV critics and viewers had ever seen. The series went on to win more than 20 Emmy Awards throughout its run, including wins for its cast members, such as James Gandolfini and Edie Falco.

The BD set includes an exclusive feature full of new interviews with cast and crew, along with famous filmmakers and academics who explore how the acclaimed series transformed the television landscape. "Defining a Television Landmark," which runs approximately 45 minutes, features all-new interviews with cast, crew, celebrities, filmmakers and academics -- including series creator David Chase, star James Gandolfini, Academy Award winning director Steven Soderbergh, Emmy Award winner Jeff Daniels and Golden Globe winner Steve Buscemi -- discussing the impact and influence of the groundbreaking series, with brand new archival footage. Additional bonus material includes lost scenes, two round table dinners with cast and crew, 25 audio commentaries and much more.

The Sopranos: The Complete Series is presented in 1080p with DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 surround. The 28-disc set also comes with a Digital HD copy of all 86 episodes.

My cable went out during the last five minutes of the last episode.

I love the show so maybe I'll pick this up on sale so I can finally see the end of the finale.

I believe retail is $280. Best Buy should have a decent sale on this round Christmas time.

$195.99 (Amazon)

I picked up The Sopranos for $5 per season at a garage sale. $35 for all 7 Box Sets. I see them at the pawn shops every time I go in. Why do people waste their money on this overpriced crap? A few years and this set will be selling for $50 and less.

Yeah even $140 is way too much on street date if someone manages to drop to 50% of list.

It looks like a nice set but I just rewatched these series for the first time since it aired this year, and I doubt I will rewatch it for at least the next 5-6 years. So yeah I'll be waiting for sub-$100 on this.

When I get a chance, I'll post a couple photos, but to describe it, each season is housed in HD Keep Cases (thicker than regular Blu-ray cases) all tucked inside a sturdy box and then a thin slip cover goes over it. My only complaint, and it's a minor one, is that they didn't just put all of season six into one case, but instead split into the two parts (as they were originally released).

Best Buy is showing a regular price of $235, so if they have their regular 50% off HBO sale in december, it will be available for under $120.

I bit at 109.99. I don't see that getting lower this year. Even if you count the two parts of season 6 as one season, ~$18 a season isn't bad.

Considering I paid about $80 more for it just four weeks ago, that's a hell of a deal. Heck, my set is still in shrink wrap...I never thought that set would drop that much this early after its release.

Anybody who already has this set, how good are the commentaries, as well as the other extras? Seriously considering it at this price.
