This looks pretty good. It should be interesting to see how the prequel aspect plays out, and I like that Batman is in it but that it sounds like the villains get a lot of the focus. I like the cover art for it too.

Doesn't seem like it even fits the game's world.

Sigh. I wish Mark Hamill hadn't bailed. Ah, well, any day with Conroy as Batman is a good day.

For what it's worth, I think Troy Baker did a bang-up job as The Joker in Arkham Origins.

Yeah. He did damn good in that one. He sounds a lot like Hamill to a degree but enough that it was his own as well.

Here's hoping for a Target Steelbook.

The last video game I played regularly was Final Fantasy X, I've been out of the loop for a while . Though I have heard he was excellent.

If you're interested, here's a video of Baker at a convention reciting the monologue from The Killing Joke. Skip over to 2:10 or so for the goods:

That does sound awesome. He sounds a lot like Hamill though, surprisingly. I'd say after Hamill and maybe Ledger, John DiMaggio's Joker from Under the Red Hood was probably one of the best interpretations.

Agreed. He had an even more effeminate tone to his version of the Joker that made him creepier and scarier than the norm.

As with the previous releases, Target will have the steelbook version for $16.99. Hopefully they get more copies in than they did with Son of Batman.

and also like previous releases, Best Buy will include a little figurine for $17.99

The reviews I read of this were not very good. Can anyone confirm this is really worth owning?

Worth owning? Up to you. Worth watching? Most definitely. This thing might as well be R. They say bitch, asshole, and shit.

Keep in mind it's more of a Suicide Squad mission, though. I enjoyed it.

EDIT - And damn it if fucking Troy Baker doesn't sound EXACTLY like Mark Hamill. I was floored

Re: Batman: Assault on Arkham -- August 12th, 2014

My friend saw it and thought it was pretty terrible, one of the worst DCU Animated films to date. Just a stupid plot, needlessly violent, depressing, nihilistic, and couldn't figure out if it wanted to be a Batman movie or a Suicide Squad flick, and failed at both. Or something.

My Target only got 3 copies of the steelbook. So if you are interested, might want to go early.

I picked up the Target Steelbook yesterday and watched it last night. Based on the negative reviews I wasn't expecting it to be very good but I was pleasantly surprised. My biggest complaint is
(mild spoiler about the structure of the story)
Spoiler:
Batman seems to be a supporting character in this story. He only makes a brief appearance at the beginning and then doesn't reappear until after the halfway point. This is most definitely a movie about the villains.
Aside from that I enjoyed the story and even a couple of the twist and turns it took.

Of course take my recommendation lightly because I have very little experience in DC's animated films. This is only the third Batman animated film I've seen. I'd say it wasn't nearly as good as The Dark Knight Returns but was a lot better than Son of Batman. Just my opinion of course.

You should check out Under the Red Hood and Flashpoint Paradox.

I liked Under the Red Hood but I didn't really care for John DiMaggio as The Joker to be honest. I think that Hamill is the best voice of the character by far. Ledger was a damn good live action take though, and I also really like Romero's take. Troy Baker does a pretty good impersonation of Hamill as The Joker if you ask me. I wish Hamill would just keep on doing the character though.

I still need to pick up Assault on Arkham (probably will tonight). It sort of bothers me that DC labeled this as a Batman film when by all accounts it sounds like it's more of a Suicide Squad film with a Batman title.

Re: Batman: Assault on Arkham -- August 12th, 2014

The shoehorned Batman/Joker plot was unnecessary and made an already meh movie even more mediocre.
