Still pissed that they didn't release "Duck you, sucker!" We got a really good set here with the Dollars films and DYS.

Might consider Fargo depending on how much of an upgrade it is or if there's new extras. I already have it with the Coen Bros. box set that was released a few years back.

I wonder if Platoon will also get the 4K treatment.

This artwork is from Amazon's Fargo listing:
Spoiler:

MGM 90th Anniversary

Fargo is an insta-buy for me. We''ll see what the reviews and extras are for the others.

The UK has released steelbooks for the Rocky and Robocop remasters. Hopefully these will as well. I love that Fargo cover.

Me too. I would have picked up that set a lot sooner if it had Duck, You Sucker! included.

People like to act like any rerelease is a cash grab on the part of the studio but MGM really seems to be targeting their top-tier releases that exist only with dated DVD-era masters. The Terminator and RoboCop are huge improvements. Rocky is up next with a remastered edition next month.

Hopefully they'll do The Silence of the Lambs as well.

Anniversary year for them (90th, I think), hence all the new updates/transfers, much like Universal did for their 100th.

I would love the theatrical cut of TGTBTU to be released. Those extended scenes on the current blu don't do it for me.

Already have the superior Italian version of TGTBTU, so don't need to double dip. This movie does get a lot of replay though, so I'll will double dip when it comes out on true 4k format.

I have Fargo as well and it's a great movie, but it doesn't have a high enough replay value (frequency-wise) to warrant a double dip.

Reading this thread, I feel like the only one who thinks the current Fargo video transfer is pretty damn good with great audio and solid supplements to boot and that MGM should focus their remastering efforts on other titles.

EDIT: By the way, if you want to see the night-and-day comparison between the US and Italian Blu-Rays of GBU, here you go.

Likewise. I have that snazzy Coen Brothers boxed set with the 4-5 flicks. I won't be getting the new version. Watch the differences be negligible as they usually are.

Fargo doesn't look bad at all. Lots of grain, but that's the way it was shot. What are they going to do when they remaster, take some of it out and the detail along with it?

The existing Fargo Blu-ray is oversharpened with a lot of edge enhancement ringing problems.

and MGM is doing right by these remasters. People have concerns about the color timing on The Terminator but its a technically superior transfer and the RoboCop one beats the original one in every instance. We should have word on the Rocky remaster soon since it comes out in less than 3 weeks.

Re: Remastered editions of Fargo, The Good, The Bad and The Ugly and Rain Man are com

They've been a mixed bag so far. The Terminator reused the same half-assed extras configuration but RoboCop added all the non-Criterion extras that were missing from the initial bare-bones Blu-ray. Per the Wal-Mart website and FoxConnect the Rocky set seems to have all the extras from the previous Blu-ray set but nothing new.

I think commentaries were the only thing missing from the initial Rocky Blu assuming you owned the box set which had that 6th disc. I've seen Blu-ray spec lists omitting commentaries because they're listed as audio options rather than extras. I remember a minor freakout on the Blu-ray forums when the Apocalypse Now disc was announced without the commentaries and they were present after all.

Aside from the tealification, the other big disappointment with The Terminator is that the disc once again omits the original mono soundtrack in favor of the crummy 5.1 remix.
