Those extras dont sound like a whole lot, but I am surprised this getting a rerelease at all. Glad I held off on buying it.

So just more than 3 months later and we get a double dip. Way to go Paramount! I guess with this thing flopping in theaters, they are trying to make their money back any way they can.

WTF? Didn't this JUST come out?

No wonder the original release was marked down to $14.99 at Best Buy.

Which is still over-priced given there are no features.

Double dip already?

I rented this and thought it was entertaining, but it's not something I need to own. It was an interesting story.

That wasn't the original plan, the supplements were not completed. It took a while to get Michael Bay to finish his part of the supplements. (It was the same thing that happened with Transformers 3.)

From the titles alone, I suspect Michael Bay didn't need to be too involved with these features to get this out in the first place.

Uh huh. Not even a commentary? WTF?

If this was a full on super packed special edition I might be able to understand why a double dip so soon but this doesn't look like anything that couldn't have been thrown on the original release in the first place.

Re: Pain and Gain: Special Collector's Edition -- 12/03/2013

I liked the movie and would probably consider buying it when it's $10 or less. I'm surprised it's getting a double dip though, especially so soon after the initial release.

At this day and age, it's mind boggling why this version wasn't released in the first place. I always thought it was strange how we got a bare bones release in the Summer, I should have known better.

Is this a Best Buy exclusive or something? I can't find a listing on Amazon.com for it other than one coming out in March 2014.

I have a review copy coming in and it comes in a red Blu-ray case, so that'll get the case nerds foaming at the mouth.

Yeah, I got it today. It has a slip cover so it'll mask the case anyway. But even so, will go well with Passion, lol.

Re: Pain and Gain: Special Collector's Edition -- 12/03/2013

I watched the making-of featurette and it was alright. It's separated into segments or you can watch it altogether. Not as self serving as these things usually are, but I did get tired of everyone commenting on how Michael Bay hasn't worked on a "low budget" movie like this in 20 years.

The extras on the Transformers movies with Michael Bay, even with how they're edited, make him come across as a pretty abrasive and unpleasant person. His commentary also sounds very much like his movies-brash and cocky. He stops just shy of having claimed to have slept with my mother and created cold fusion. The fact of the matter is though, as much as his "small budget" BS sounds stupid, in terms of money spent vs. made, he is right. Yeah, many filmmakers could make 6 movies for the price of TF1, but they likely wouldn't make anywhere near as much in box office or tie-in merchandise. Bay has his finger on the pulse of the country. John Landis once commented that Bay was the ultimate director for the globalization age because it didn't matter what language they were in, you don't need a brain to understand his films. He said it, not me .

True. They do dial it down a bit and he's seems less of an asshole on this one that in the previous films. He seems like he actually had fun doing this - he's definitely out of his comfort zone.

I kinda wish Pain & Gain had a Bay commentary, plus he has said many times that this is his passion project
