Per blu-ray.com:

Extras for both releases include:

-Looking to Science: Explore the scientific realities of Zombie behavior in nature and learn more about Zombies in literature and film.
-WWZ Production:
  • Outbreak: Go on set with Brad Pitt and director Marc Forster for a behind-the-scenes look at the film's breathtaking first attack in Philadelphia.
  • The Journey Begins: Delve deeper into Gerry's fight for survival during the dramatic escape in South Korea.
  • Behind The Wall: Explore the epic scene in Jerusalem and discover the incredible logistics of creating the elaborate stunts and crowd sequences.
  • Camouflage: Experience the final confrontation between Gerry and the Zombies and discover the phenomenal scope of the film's production.

7.1 ?? I don't remember this being released as such in the theaters.

EDIT: oh apparently it was it just wasn't advertised as such - who knew??

I like the 3D cover more but have no interest in buying it in 3D.

So, if you buy the 3D version you can only get the theatrical cut in 3D? Well, that makes sense...

Didn't like this one, but I am curious to check out the DC.

I assume all the black-colored blood be restored to red for the "unrated" cut?

2d for me but I agree with sandman that the 3D cover art is better.

No interviews with the author of the book Max Brooks? LOL I know they basically only took the title when they made the movie but come on.

Already pre-ordered the 2-D Blu.

Anyone know if it would be possible for say a later release to have Forster's original cut? Was the movie fully done effects wise when they decided they wanted to reshoot the entire last 40 minutes or so or was it an unfinished rough cut.

Do we know how much longer the unrated cut is?

I don't know that it was a matter of length. The entire last act of the movie was scrapped and reshot.

this "unrated' cut probably won't restore the original 3rd act. itll prob just add cg blood and gore to attack scenes

When I watched this in the theater, there was only really 3 spots where I thought, "oh. There's your pg13!"

Soldier shoots himself.
Someone gets a hand chopped off.
And and crowbar to a zombie head and getting stuck.

I'm expecting to see more at those parts. Curious to see if there's more.

If that's true it would be severely disappointing. The release the original ending on Blu-ray would be a perfect opportunity to further cash in on the movie. The damn thing is already filmed, it really wouldn't be much of a problem to include it.

At the very least seamless branching it in doesn't seem out of the question. Unless they've decided to completely disown the original ending for some reason.

Not sure how possible it is, but I think they could reuse that footage in a sequel depending on how they want to take the story.

In these two interviews, Damon Lindelof describes the original ending and claims that everyone realized after screening the first cut that it didn't make sense and wasn't working.

Of course, how much you trust Damon Lindelof's word is up to you.

The announcement mentioned only the 3D version having the theatrical cut. Amazon has updated artwork of the 2D combo pack with a sticker stating it also includes the theatrical cut. Good news.

Re: World War Z - 9/17/13

Watched the UNRATED cut and it was basically what was already mentioned - lots of cgi blood added to some kills, both, human and zombie. They actually added quite a bit of it to the hand chopping of the Israeli soldier girl's hand, but the continuity was fucked, because none of the blood got on Brad Pitt or his hair.

So no big alternate bit?

Not within the body of the film.

So it's in the deleted scenes or what?

I've seen no confirmation that the alternate ending is anywhere. If it doesn't make it on there, that's a bummer. I'm sure everyone wants to see it and it's a pretty good selling point. Maybe a future release.
