Re: World War Z - 9/17/13

Re: World War Z - 9/17/13
Putting only the extended version on the BR when you could've easily put the theatrical cut on with seamless branching as well is even lower than moving the extras to digital. What's especially weird is that it looks like the Redbox BR version is the theatrical cut.

Re: World War Z - 9/17/13
It looks like the Digital Copies (both UV/iTunes) only redeem for the Theatrical version.

Re: World War Z - 9/17/13
I take it there aren't any iTunes exclusive extras for this?

I did not check up front, but there were 3 copies of the 2d exclusive and 1 copy of the 3D exclusive in electronics. And this was around midday.

Also my target just put out a bunch of 3D with the book. |
Re: World War Z - 9/17/13
Bought it yesterday as a blind buy. 2D- Blu/dvd set.

Re: World War Z - 9/17/13
I saw this in the theater and just watched the Unrated Cut today. Wow, what a huge improvement. Feels like a zombie movie now, it should have been an R in the first place.

So they actually did do an encode of the theatrical version for Blu-Ray, but only for Redbox? That's even more stupid.
Has been going on for years that redbox and Blockbuster will be supplied with a different "rental" version. |

Rental versions usually omit extras and such, I've never heard of one including something some consumers may actually want that excluded from the original disc.

Re: World War Z - 9/17/13
Which had the BEST exclusive for this? Walmart? Target? Best Buy?
|
Re: World War Z - 9/17/13
Picked it up at Best Buy as a blind buy.
Decided to go with the $19.99 version that had a $10 off if you by 2 Coke products and a bag of combos... -Including tax the price came to $17.73, used my long lost but now found in the trunk of my car $25 BB Gift. Still have over $7 to help purchase IronMan 3 next week. Had a good time with the movie, everyone in my family wants to watch it. |

No 3D book at my Target :(

Re: World War Z - 9/17/13
Blind bought this (3D version) and caught up with it this weekend. I didn't mind the fact that there wasn't a lot of blood and gore (that does nothing for me anyway), but I was surprised how LITTLE character development there is in this movie. Other than being a former/current worker for the UN, I don't think I could tell you anything about Brad Pitt's character (other than his name)...and Mireille Enos' character even less so.
Also, given the fact that the movie cost $190 million (not sure how much of that was re-shoots), it sure doesn't look it. The whole climax at the W.H.O. building looks as if it were made on a TV budget. I didn't hate the movie, just felt rather 'meh' about it...a very "that's it?!" reaction to the whole thing. It seemed very much like the final act (W.H.O. building) should have been the second act...instead we get a voice-over that wraps everything up. |
